The MIOPS Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, timelapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output. An external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

A built-in light sensor detects changes in light and triggers your camera's shutter in just a few nanoseconds. You can capture only bright lightning strikes, or the smallest strikes, simply by adjusting the sensitivity. This mode can also be used to capture fireworks, or other events where you need to capture images based on changes in light.

The MIOPS has a built-in sensor to detect when a laser beam is broken, thereby triggering your camera's shutter. This is useful for detecting subjects such as water drops, animals, or intruders when conducting surveillance.

MIOPS's built-in microphone can detect sound, triggering your camera or flash to capture things like breaking glass, or a popping balloon. You can adjust the delay of the trigger as well as the sensitivity of amount of sound needed to trigger the shutter.

This mode lets you specify the interval time anywhere between one second and one hour, as well as how many photos to take. The LCD screen will turn off to save energy, allowing you to take a timelapse photo for days, or even months if you use an external power source.

Even if your camera doesn't have a bracketing feature, MIOPS allows you to set a center exposure, as well as the over and under exposures needed in order to make an HDR image.

A port on the MIOPS can accept any external trigger that has an output signal between 0V and 3V, such as a temperature, pressure, or humidity sensor.

You can combine sensors with MIOPS's Scenario feature by creating a custom scenarios with up to five different steps. For example, you can set the MIOPS to start taking timelapse photos only after it detects lightning.

MIOPS has two dedicated outputs, one for a flash, and another for a camera. They are electrically isolated from each other, reducing risk of a short circuit. The MIOPS trigger can be used with multiple cameras (not simultaneously) by simply changing the camera connection cable.

The mini-USB port allows you to charge your Li-ion battery, as well as update the MIOPS's firmware.

MIOPS can be used with any cameras which have a remote shutter trigger port or an IR port, and any and flash units with a PC sync jack.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What Kind of camera settings do your reccomend with this device ? (Program, manual, TV or Av) my camera is a Canon 1D M.II. thank you

A: I would recommend using Manual mode, though you may wish to experiment with the other settings. Mipos website only states to set the camera to manual focus, and for shots of lightning, set the focus to infinity, and when using Sound or HDR modes, set the shutter speed to BULB. However, you would have the most control over your images using Manual mode, and then can change the aperture or shutter speed to make any changes needed to correct your initial exposure.

Q: 2. Is this trigger kit compatible with the Canon 5D Mark iv?

A: No, the Miops Camera Trigger with Cable for Canon Sub-Mini Cameras Kit B&H # MIOPSC2K, would not be compatible with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera. As the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera uses the Canon N3 3-pin remote release terminal, you would have to instead purchase the Miops Camera Trigger with Cable for Canon 3-Pin Cameras Kit, B&H # MIOPSC1K, which would be compatible for use with your camera.

Q: 3. Compatible with OM1?

A: Since the OM-Systems OM-1 uses a 2.5mm remote port, you would need to add the Vello 2.5mm Remote Shutter Release Cable II for Canon Sub-Mini Cameras, BH # VERCC2C125. https://bhpho.to/33P21JV

This is a great product that allows you to trigger your camera or flash via lightning, sound, or laser. This allows you to do some very creative things.

I haven't been able to test the lightning triggering, but I have used a flash light to ensure the light sensor works. The sound and laser trigger work well also. The instructions in the box are somewhat lacking, but you can download a detailed instructions from the MIOPS website.

I had to buy a hot shoe PC Sync adapter as my flash does not have a PC Sync port and that is how this unit triggers your flash. You might consider buying this adapter if your flash does not have a PC Sync port.

Very easy to setup and use, I’ve got a Pluto trigger as well. This is so much easier to use. Was able to capture the Space X night launch first time using it.

Works as advertised and fairly easy to set up. Provided instructions are a little vague, but you can download detailed instructions from the MIOPS website and they are very detailed. I had to purchase a hot shoe PC Sync adapter to trigger my flash since my flash did not have a PC Sync port so check your flash to see if you need to get one also. This worked fine with the adapter. If you are only triggering your camera you should be OK - be sure to get the correct 2.5mm or 3-pin cord depending on your camera.

As always package came fast and the trigger appears well made. Have not had time or any lightning to test it but if it doesnt work I believe B&H will exchange it. Since it does not have a locking nut I ordered a 1/4x20 male stud adapter to be on the safe side for transport. Goes in hot shoe of my canon t6 snug but comes out a little too easy for my comfort. If it doesnt work I will return.
