Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this item be taken on a plane?

A: While you could carry this on a plane, it is best to check with the particular airline you're using.

Q: 2. I Don’t Have A Oven but Is it gonna work if I let them dry in direct sunlight?

A: Yes, but will of course take 4x longer to dry out.

Q: 3. I purchased a couple of these Dessicant Packs. There is a dark green dot on the lid. There is nothing orange as described. Is the aluminum tin supposed to be opened? After several months of use, I placed it in an oven overnight at 250 degrees, and nothing changed as far as I could tell. The dot is still dark green. There are no instructions whatsoever on how to use what appears to be such a simple product.

A: As you already know, the placing the pack in the oven for 3 hours at 300 deg, the pellets will turn orange, telling you its recharged.

Q: 4. Does this recorder can solo or mute channels to the headphones, while recording?

A: The Solo mode can only be used while monitoring audio during playback. You can only solo and mute tracks that have already been recorded.

Q: 5. Does the line out have a volume control?

A: The line out level is variable

Q: 6. Is this cobalt chloride based?

A: No, Ruggard Desiccant Silica Gel Pack - Metal Case does not contain cobalt chloride. These are Hydrosorbant cobalt chloride-free silica gels.

Q: 7. Will this recorder offer automatic gain control? I want to set it and forget it

A: In a manner, yes. Zoom uses a software called Auto Mix, which sets levels to minimize outside noise. With the 32-bit floating point processor, it is nearly impossible to overdrive the preamps.

Q: 8. Is there a known limit to how many times this silica can be recharged?

A: No, this desiccant can be used indefinitely. I'm sure it will be exhausted eventually but the time frame is undetermined.

Q: 9. Will the F6 charge a connected NP-F type battery when connected to external power?

A: No, the Zoom F6 Multitrack Field Recorder cannot charge any type of batteries.

Q: 10. I cannot tell from the photo, but is there a removable flap at the bottom that will allow you run audio cables into the bottom of the zoom? Ive been looking for a way to clip the Zoom to my belt so I can monitor wireless audio being fed into it.

A: I think this is the best accessory for the Zoom H4n. All sides, back and front can be open to access all the controls and soccets and close it back quickly and securely by the velcro strips. I prefer to use a shoulder strap attached to the D Loop rather than attach it in my belt. With shoulder strap I can access the H4n quickly rather than removing it from the belt and remount it again to the belt.

I use this case to store my camera and six lenses including two large zooms. I am glad I went with the dividers so I can reconfigure again and again. Strong latches! Very nice quality!

The perfect size case for short trips, took mine rafting to protect my Canon 40D and a couple of lenses. Won't be the last Pelican case I buy.

For your money and piece of mind, there isn't a better case out there. First of all it's rugged. Made from high impact plastics that won't break or crack. If you happen to throw it down some stairs, no worry, your contents will be safe and sound. Second, the pick and pluck foam insert is perfect to fit your gear properly. Nice and tight! And third, it just looks cool! I'm now in the process of switching all my old hard and soft cases over to the Pelican's. I'm their new number one fan!

I've been using a smaller hard case purchased elsewhere and with the addition of my latest lens didn't have enough room. This is the largest briefcase type Pelican case they sell. I was very surprised at how light the case is! Great divider system with strong holding velcro allows you to reconfigure any way you need. I now have my DSLR, three lenses, three flashes and various filters stored safely in this case. I just wish I'd purchased bright red so I could see how airport security would react to me carrying it on. :-)

This is my fifth purchase of the Pelican cases; three I use to protect cameras, and the other two are used to protect my audio gear. I've been using the Pelican cases for over four years and I'll never use another brand. My only complaint, as is with most film/video products, is that the fillers or replacement foam sets are a bit pricey. But if you pull the foam the right way the first time, there's no need to buy another one!

we use these to carry laptops (and other things) around on tour. tucked in the foam, we actually had a mac go ripping down half a flight of stairs, no damage at all and only tiny scuffs on the case. i'll probably store things in these as long as i need to store things in cases. (we have 5 already)

I wish I could include a photo on this review to show how perfectly this case fits my Canon 40D, 100-400 L, 28-105, 2x extender, Canon G9 and all of the batteries, cords, memory cards, filters, and accessories. The case itself is 7 lbs, but with my stuff, right at 20 lbs.I got this case to take to the Kotzebue Sound region of Alaska for some caribou, grizzly and tundra photos. Perfect. The case is watertight and is dustproof, and I put it to the test! Very rugged build, solid clasping, and doubled as a card table and somewhat short, but off-the-ground chair. I wouldn't have wanted to make this trip without this case! The desert tan color is a great natural camo choice for outdoor enthusiasts, and I highly recommend paying a little extra for the padded dividers. I have other Pelican cases with the foam, and trust me, you'll be happier with the dividers. It was a nice size carry-on too. What else can I say, this case is a must have!!

Great case, lots of room for a camera and 3 lens, or two cameras and two extra lens. The latches work a little stiff, but the case is still new, and the snap they make when closing is great assurance that they are closed and will stay closed, Great fit and finish on the product.
