Bluestar Oval Ultra Small Viewfinder Eyecushion (fleece, Orange)
- Product Code: ga186064
-
The Oval Ultra Small Viewfinder Eyecushion in orange fleece, from Bluestar, features outside dimensions of 3.3 x 2.6" to securely fit over many common external and built-in viewfinders. These include the Hoodman Hoodeye, JJC Oval Shape EyeShade, JJC Viewfinder, Bolex H16, and the viewfinder of the Panasonic GH5 with a compatible oval eyecup similar to the Hoodeye. This fleece version is made of 100% synthetic material and provides a high level of softness and comfort for cold weather while enhancing light blockage. The fluffy feel reduces the rate of heat transfer, making the material feel warmer in cold conditions.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work with a Canon C70?
A: No, the unit is made and designed for the blackmagic pocket camera only.
Q: 2. Will this work with the Canon C70?
A: No it will not.
Q: 3. Will this viewfinder work with the LCD screen on the Blackmagic 4K Ursa?
A: It will not. This is for the original Pocket Cinema Camera which has a 3.5" screen. The Ursa 4K has a 10.1" screen while the Ursa Mini 4K has a 5" screen. It is too small for either.
Q: 4. Has anyone used the URSA viewfinder and the Zacuto Gratical X? Which is better?
A: From what we are hearing, the URSA viewfinder is excellent and works perfectly with the URSA cameras. The Gratical X is exactly the same as the Gratical HD only does not have the same software. Therefore the X has the same great image as the HD thus making it a world class viewfinder. The Graticals have the advantage in that they can be used with any camera while the URSA viewfinder really is just for the URSA's.
Q: 5. what epiece chamois will fit this?
A: The Bluestar eye cushion that best fits this viewfinder is their Large Round. They come in natural chamois, (everyday use) microfiber (hot sweaty days) and fleece. (cold days.) See the following link for all the large, round Bluestars B&H sells. BTW, I used this brand for years on large productions and I was very satisfied.
Q: 6. Does recently announced black magic design STUDIO veifinder support ursa(big)4k and canon 1dx mark2-dr asok,India
A: The studio viewfinder takes a signal via sdi and also requires power via the 12v xlr. The big Ursa has these, and will work. While the 1dx won't without jerry-rigging up with some kind of battery solution and a mini hdmi to sdi converter.
Q: 7. Is this unit specifically for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4k?
A: Yes, this is specifically designed for the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera.
Q: 8. what is the weight?
A: According to Blackmagic, As the URSA Viewfinder hasn't yet been released, that information is not available. Once it has been released we'll have more information.
Q: 9. How do I attache the reflector?
A: Excellent question, because the attachment is somewhat flimsy. The two outer pieces( that protrude away from the ends of the main shaft) push against the reflector. You create a slight compression on the reflector by sliding the holders inward, then tightening the two knobs in the center of the shaft to maintain the compression. There is a little spring clip in the two holders that helps hold the reflector, but just barely. I've been able to make this work in a studio, but if anyone bumps it, or creates a breeze, the reflector will fall off. You cannot rotate the reflector without it falling off. This means one of the ends of the holder needs to be attached to the highest elevation part of the reflector and the other holder needs to be attached at the lowest elevation part of the reflector. There is a real opportunity for someone to design a better reflector holder - specifically the two pieces on the ends of the shaft. I own (and use) this one and a different brand with a different mechanism and they're both flimsy. This holder absolutely will not work outdoors.
Q: 10. How many stops does the translucent diffusion take away?
A: Just got off the phone with the manufacturer. Confirmed it's 1 stop of diffusion.
