The 100 x 150mm, 2-stop Benro MasterH Series Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated ND Filter is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters. It can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.

This filter achieves its effect with a 0.6 band of density above its center region that provides up to a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends approximately 15mm in both vertical directions and tapers to a band of reduced density toward the edge above it. Directly below the 0.6 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a hard-edged line of transition before the clear area.

The placement of a 0.6 band of density with a clear area directly below allows the Benro 100 x 150mm MasterH Series Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above, the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This pattern of brightness corresponds to the density pattern on the Benro 100 x 150mm MasterH Series Hard-Edge Reverse-Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter. The hard-edged line of transition in this reverse, graduated neutral density filter is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land, while the gradation above the 0.6 band of density is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.

Benro MasterH Series filters are constructed from shock-resistant Schott B270 glass. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, while further enhancing clarity and color fidelity, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The nano coating associated with Benro MasterH Series filters provides an additional 13th layer over each side of this filter, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

A plastic case with a padded pouch are included for storage and transport.

  • This filter is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters.
  • Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.
  • 2-stop band of density that tapers to a band of reduced density toward the edge above it while directly above a clear area creates a neutral density pattern that matches the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above, the horizon.
  • 2-stop band of density extends approximately 15mm in both vertical directions.
  • Density pattern corresponds to the brightness pattern of the sun when it appears at or is closer to the horizon as opposed to a higher angle, which creates an increase in brightness that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it.
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the 2-stop band of density and the clear area below it is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land.
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image.
  • Design features shock-resistant Schott B270 glass construction.
  • Multicoating prevents internal ghosting and reflections.
  • Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The pivot foot is too stiff and makes panning difficult. In soft ground the whole foot grabs the dirt. Any replacement ideas without buying 3 feet?

A: Really the best solution is the Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods linked here. https://bhpho.to/3fC8c6s. This will grip the ground and then allow for smooth panning. Any solution without 3 feet on the bottom will not have the same panning action.

Q: 2. Does this tripod legs comes with padded bag which has room for head?

A: No, it does not. According to Benro, cases included with tripod legs by themselves are only designed to support the tripod legs, and will not fit a tripod with a head mounted. Benro tripods sold with heads as a kit would already allow for the additional length of the head. As the Benro TMA27A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod, B&H # BETMA27A MFR # TMA27A, listed above does not include a head, and as such, the included case would not fit a head; it would fit the tripod only. Benro states the included case's dimensions are 4.33 x 4.33 x 30.30 in in size.

Q: 3. Does the center column have a hook for hanging a sandbag?

A: It does!

Q: 4. Whrre can i get extra screws

A: I personally don't know. I would try contacting the maker of the tripod, or asking B&H to see if they could direct you. This is whatI would have to do. Best answer I can give you. Sorry.

Q: 5. Does this tripod have a ball head?

A: No. It is a tripod only. The screw at the top accepts standard heads from various manufactures. If you'll look on the product's page on the b&h site, you'll see suggested accessories, including various heads.

Q: 6. What is the max height without the center column extended?

A: Maximum Height w/o Column Extended53.1 (135 cm)

Q: 7. This is going to be my first monopod. Will I be attaching this to the camera body (shorter lenses) and the lens for longer lenses? OR will I also need to get a pod head?

A: You can screw in Benro MAD49A Adventure Series 4 Aluminum Monopod directly to the camera or directly to a long lens that has a tripod collar on the lens. You would need a clamp and quick release if you want to be able to quickly add and remove the lens or camera from the monopod without having to screw it in and out.

Q: 8. Does it come with a ball head?

A: This does not come with a ballhead.

Q: 9. Does this tripod have a center column or not? Some of the pictures show a center column.

A: Yes it does

Q: 10. Does this include a bag/carrying case?

A: I'm sorry, no.
