The Benro 77mm Master Series TrueNight Filter is designed to reduce the appearance of light pollution in images or video that include the night sky and illumination from artificial light sources. This effect can be obtained when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected.

Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light such as cities. These light sources can include exterior and interior lamps for commercial or residential buildings, brightly lit advertisements such as billboards, streetlamps, as well as sports and entertainment venues. Together, they can result in a type of light pollution known as skyglow, where individual stars, the Milky Way, and other astronomical features in the night sky are obscured. Additionally, artificial lights clustered together can become difficult to individually discern. Light pollution from these "cluttered" sources can become a source of distraction within an image and can resemble overexposed areas of glare.

When used, the Benro 77mm Master Series TrueNight Filter can improve the results of nighttime images by absorbing the yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps, mercury-vapor lamps, or low Color Rendering Index LEDs, common light sources within urban areas. By preventing the dominant wavelengths of light associated with the color of those lamps from being recorded, the visibility of astronomical objects is enhanced, and where they appear, artificial light sources are more clearly defined with less glare and improved contrast.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each of the Benro 77mm Master Series TrueNight Filter's glass surfaces include multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The nano coating associated with Benro Master Series filters provides an additional 13th layer over each side of this filter, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

The Benro 77mm Master Series TrueNight Filter is constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased optical clarity as well as color fidelity and features a brass filter ring for enhanced durability and jamming prevention.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. are the clamps metal or plastic?

A: The levers are plastic but the piece on the leg that does the clamping is die cast magnesium. It might look and feel like plastic but it is not. I have had the legs apart and can confirm this.

Q: 2. Do the legs grip well enough to hold 8 lb slider with a 7-9 lb rig? Is the leg tension adjustable/can it be tightened?

A: Clamp tension is easily adjustable with the included tool. I would feel confident putting that much weight on this tripod. Some clamps on mine were set a bit looser than I'd prefer but that was not a problem to correct.

Q: 3. Does this come with a strap like the manfrotto ones?

A: Yes, this monopod comes with a strap.

Q: 4. Does this tripod legs comes with padded bag which has room for head?

A: No, it does not. According to Benro, cases included with tripod legs by themselves are only designed to support the tripod legs, and will not fit a tripod with a head mounted. Benro tripods sold with heads as a kit would already allow for the additional length of the head. As the Benro TMA27A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod, B&H # BETMA27A MFR # TMA27A, listed above does not include a head, and as such, the included case would not fit a head; it would fit the tripod only. Benro states the included case's dimensions are 4.33 x 4.33 x 30.30 in in size.

Q: 5. Whrre can i get extra screws

A: I personally don't know. I would try contacting the maker of the tripod, or asking B&H to see if they could direct you. This is whatI would have to do. Best answer I can give you. Sorry.

Q: 6. What is the max height without the center column extended?

A: Maximum Height w/o Column Extended53.1 (135 cm)

Q: 7. This is going to be my first monopod. Will I be attaching this to the camera body (shorter lenses) and the lens for longer lenses? OR will I also need to get a pod head?

A: You can screw in Benro MAD49A Adventure Series 4 Aluminum Monopod directly to the camera or directly to a long lens that has a tripod collar on the lens. You would need a clamp and quick release if you want to be able to quickly add and remove the lens or camera from the monopod without having to screw it in and out.

Q: 8. Does the this monopod have a removable foot revealing a thread at the bottom? I've seen mixed answers on this with someone claiming the aluminum version does not but another stated the carbon fiber version does. I'd be using this to affix the monopod to the top of a sturdy lightstand for more height. I understand the risks involved and would be standing beneath the unit supporting it at all times. Thanks

A: I have the aluminum version of this tripod. It appears that the ball joint and foot are connected to the bottom of the tripod via a threaded shaft. It takes a wrench to get it off, though, and I have not tried this.

Q: 9. The pivot foot is too stiff and makes panning difficult. In soft ground the whole foot grabs the dirt. Any replacement ideas without buying 3 feet?

A: Really the best solution is the Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods linked here. https://bhpho.to/3fC8c6s. This will grip the ground and then allow for smooth panning. Any solution without 3 feet on the bottom will not have the same panning action.

Q: 10. Does this come with the head in the picture or do I need to buy a separate head?

A: A tripod head is not included with the purchase of the Benro TAD27A Series 2 Adventure Aluminum Tripod, B&H # BETAD27A. The tripod head, Canon DSLR camera, and Canon lens pictured as options and to display the tripod in usage. If you are looking for a 3-Way Pan Head for use with the tripod, I would recommend either the Benro HD3A 3-Way Panhead, B&H # BEHD3A, or the Benro HD1A 3-Way Panhead, B&H # BEHD1A, depending on the amount of weight you plan to support and/or your budget.
