This 3-stop, 4 x 5.65" Pancro Combination IR + ND Filter is a combination of both an infrared control filter and a 0.9 neutral density filter. An IR+ND is ideal for HD cameras, which have greater low-light sensitivity and, subsequently, an increased susceptibility to IR contamination. When using a standard neutral density filter to counter the increased light sensitivity afforded by the HD sensor, the effects of infrared pollution become more apparent. This filter combines the properties of an ND filter with an IR control filter to eliminate the spill of infrared light reaching the sensor while still maintaining the extra exposure benefits of a neutral density filter.

This filter offers a flat spectral curve ranging from 380nm to 2000nm. This neutrality enables Pancro ND to filter out troublesome IR wavelengths in the 800nm to 2000nm range that are frequently captured on HD cameras.

The glass itself is a single piece of non-laminated material that offers excellent flatness, minimal distortion, and durability.

Infrared control filter helps to block infrared pollution from affecting the color fidelity of imagery; this enables a wider color gamut and truer colors, especially noticeable in the darker regions of the image.

0.9 neutral density filter provides a 3-stop exposure reduction.

One-piece, non-laminated construction offers a high degree of flatness, minimal distortion, and durability.

A: Unfortunately, Nisi does not specify how much of the IR and UV is reduced for NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop). They do state that the UV and IR cut is to offer a color neutral result. Therefore the UV and IR cut should not be relied upon for anything else other than offering an image that is color neutral.

Used this and the 10 stop extensively in Iceland last month with 24-70. Really a pleasure to use.

NiSi produces an excellent line of ND filters and this is certainly no exception. I would highly recommend all of their ND filters.

The filter retains quite good resolution. See my picture of Sun taken with Z8 at 280mm. Color is slightly shifted (to green?) but not much.
The frame is a bit thin, which is good as it takes less space and you can stack more should you ever want that. But it may become an annoyance as you might take it on and off many times for framing and shooting.

Nisi makes the best filters and filter holders. This guy is no exception. Well made, and very scratch-resistant.

If you are considering photographing the upcoming solar eclipse, a UV/IR ND filter is paramount. And this one from NiSi is excellent. It is high-quality gear. I've been practicing using it and so far satisfied with the results. Still dialing-in on the optimal settings. I am also using a remote shutter release. B&H also has a very helpful guide on solar photography.

Purchased this as part of preparing for the upcoming eclipse. (I hope that the weather cooperates.) I selected this filter over the others due to its price point, availability, and reviews.

The pic was taken as part of practicing focusing and working out the camera settings using a Sony A7IV, 70-200 F2.8 GM II and 2X teleconverter.

400mm F10 1/2000s ISO 100

Applied slight increase in exposure and DxO ClearView Plus.

Cropped from 7008x7672 to 1564x1043.

Used this for the solar eclipse and the pictures I got were amazing! I could see solar flares.. sun spots and the edge of the moon in perfect quality. I had it on for the two hours of the eclipse and my sensor and camera equipment was protected and undamaged afterwords. Definitely recommend!
