Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this the correct film for a AGFA PD16 Viking camera with a F6.3 Lens?

A: Like John B noted 616 is no longer made. However, if you have a camera that takes 620 film, 120 can be used (just spool it onto a spare 620 spool, than back again so the frame numbers are correct - do this in a film changing bag, it's easy to do).

Q: 2. What is the total thickness of the 70mm film? (emulsion + base). Does "layer" thickness listed in the film specs indicate total thickness? I understand that there is no backing paper on this film. The 70mm film is not listed on the Ilford website. Thanks.

A: Yes the layer thickness listed here would indicate the total thickness.

Q: 3. how many exposures are there in this film?

A: The number of exposures you can get from a roll of 120 film will depend on the format of the camera you are using. If your camera is 6 x 4.5, there are 15 or 16 exposures; 6 x 6 cameras will get 12/13 exposures, 6 x 7 cameras get 10 exposures, 6 x 8 cameras will get 9 exposures, and so forth.

Q: 4. 1) What is the expiration date?2) How to ship to Beijing China? EMS or FedEx or other? 3) In the ship of transportation through X light?Thank you

A: 1/ The expiration date is the date stamped by the manufacturer on the film box and it is the date until the manufacturer guarantees best performance under standard exposure and development. Film can be used few years after the expiration date without serious quality loss if the film is stored at low temperature (freezer). If not stored at low temperatures the film starts losing quality due to oxidation (slow process of fogging). Fogging becomes visible few years after the expiration date.2. How to ship to China? - sorry I'm not qualified to answer this question3. Do not let film go through X-ray - that will destroy unprocessed film that (undeveloped). Use special X-ray protective material to keep film safe when it passes through X-ray machines.

Q: 5. What is the dimension of the packaging (length, width, height) of this 50 roll pack?

A: B&H may call it a 50 roll pack but in my experience, it's nothing of the sort - it's been years since B&H actually sent me the old white cardboard box full of foil wrapped bare rolls without the normal individual box and plastic canister. What I've actually got every time I've ordered in recent years is simply 50 of the standard boxed rolls factory packaged in 5 standard cellophane wrapped bricks of 10 rolls.Dimensions of the 10 roll brick is 19 cm x 8 cm x 6cm - the dimensions of 5 of those will depend on how B&H's shipping department stacks them in the box.B&H's bulk discounts are a bit of a joke as there's no saving in buying 1 roll or 50 rolls - it's exactly the same price so why bother? There are NO bulk discounts so I buy HP5 135-36 elsewhere..

Q: 6. Can this film be processed in a red lit dark room?

A: Yes, the Ilford HP5 Plus Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) can be developed in a darkroom lit by safelights.

Q: 7. can you use this film for a discovery 80 plus fuji camera ?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Hi, may i know the expiry date on this hp5 bulk should i get it now?

A: The expiration date of this Ilford HP5 Plus Black and White Film in 100' is generally within 6 months to 1 year from now.

Q: 9. For a photography course I'm taking next month, I need 10-15 rolls of Black and White Negative Film (35mm/Arista 400, Illford HP5 ASA 400, Kodak Tri-X ASA 400). Based on what I need, which product is best for me and if this Illford one is, which file format should I get? Thanks.

A: Ilford film is excellent, but I am a fan of Kodak Tri-X 400, 24 exposure.

Q: 10. the film processing only says Black & white, is it ok if the developer uses color processing?

A: This is b&w film that uses b&w chemistry only. No color chemistry should be used.
