Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Can I develop this film using C41 developer? Thanks
A: No way... This is a standard B&W film. Best developer to use is Rodinol 1/32 at 8.5 minutes. This is definitely NOT a C-41 film.
Q: 2. Does anyone know if the bags in the box are sealed and/or lightproof?
A: Not sealed. folded over and light proof. Still, open only in the dark.
Q: 3. Can I use this for my argus super 75 camera? A blog said j could and I'd like to make sure.
A: Hello! I'm not sure if this will help you. But I have a Holga, and I think the principle will be similar. I've only shot 120 film in my Holga though. I think that is the ideal film format for your Argus Super 75. If you want to run 35mm film though instead, because it's narrower, you should put some sort of buffer on the outer edges, so that the film tracks straight. Otherwise it might track up and down the wider spool, and photos might be less predictable? As far as what that buffer is, you may need to be creative. You could try stacking some rubber washers, you'll likely need to cut one end of the circle to get them around the core of spools. I hope that helps! I'm sorry, I'm no expert on your camera, but I think this should be pretty accurate! Good luck!
Q: 4. Could somebody tell me please if it comes packed in the metal can or just black plastic foil inside the cardboard package?
A: Black plastic, inside the cardboard box. I have used Ilford film for decades. A great film. Hope this answered your question.
Q: 5. What is the expiration date on the current delta 100 that is for sale?
A: B&H buys and sells film in bulk. In general we regularly maintain fresh film stock. All of our film is at least 6 months from expiration (typically much longer). Anytime film stock is less than 6 months from expiration we sell it in a separate section and label it as short-dated film and also price it with a slight discount (again due to the volumes we sell this rarely occurs). Unfortunately we do not have access to our inventory to hand inspect the expiration date of any of our films prior to purchase.
Q: 6. How long does this film need to be developed in the darkroom?
A: My friend this film behaves pretty much like any other B&W film, and personal preferences upon what final results you may be looking for will determine dark room procedures. Delta 100 has a great and well balanced contrast range. If you are looking normal B&W results, and with standard developers at normal 72-75 degrees ambient temp, I will suggest 10 to 12 minutes, agitating (more like soft shaking..not a bartender kind) 10 seconds at each 2 minutes interval then leave the tank upside down the next 2 minutes and agitate again when you put it up (two min upside down, two min up) and repeat until the 10 to 12 minutes are gone. So, let's say if you did use 10 minutes procedure, you will agitate 5 times total with a 50 seconds (10 sec x 5 times) at each inversion. Remember that more agitation, the more contrast you will get, and the more time means pushing the exposure. I hope this may work for you, let me know.!!!
Q: 7. How long does it usually take to ship?
A: You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.
Q: 8. The product description mentions that this film can be pushed to ISO 3200. Would the results be similar to the Ilford ISO 3200 (120) film, which I use for medium format? I do a lot of night photography (available light - no flash) and was wondering what kind of results I would get with this 4x5 film if pushed to ISO 1600 or even ISO 3200. Thinking of moving to 4x5, but I want to hear what people have to say about the film pushed to 1600 or 3200. Thanks!
A: HP5 is rated 400, which means it's actually around a 200 ASA film. I use it all the time, and NEVER push it. If you're working with a 4 x 5 camera (or a pinhole) you are on a tripod and should not really need to push it. I believe it is still possible to find Delta 3200 in 4x5, which is what I would recommend if you want to shoot in really low light.
Q: 9. What's the expiry date if i were to get now?
A: The following item has a expiry date of march 2024. Recorded on 3/18/22
Q: 10. Will the film give me a positive or a negative of the image?
A: in normal development it is negative, if you really want a positive you can send it to dr5.
