Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Since the new Macbook Pro's don't come with the SD card reader, does this actually work with the new macbook pro's without the reader? Since I can't see what the end looks like, does one actually put their SD card into a slot here?

A: Yes this works with Macbook pro and any sd card

Q: 2. I guess this mic can be used on iPhone as well & monitor the sound via a Bluetooth headphone. Correct me if I am wrong?

A: You would need a Rode SC7 cable and an Apple Lightning to Headphone Jack adapter to be able to do that. If you want to monitor via bluetooth, you can do that but keep in mind that because of the latency in bluetooth processing, your audio will likely come into your headphones delayed.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with Windows based computers?

A: I would not suggest this for Windows based devices. For that I would suggest the following https://bhpho.to/2MNAYFy

Q: 4. How bad is the self noise level when connected to a Sony a6600 camera? Which microphone has the least self noise; this one or the SMX-30?

A: The Azden SMX-30V Stereo/Mono Mixable Video Microphone and the Azden SMX-30 Stereo/Mono Switchable Video Microphone have similar specifications in reference to self noise, with an identical signal to noise ratio spec of 82 dB (1kHz). While we have not tested either mic directly with the Sony a6600 Mirrorless Camera, they should both work well, although a bit of self noise is expected in general.

Q: 5. Will this work with a Samsung 10 phone?

A: this is designed for the Apple. On Android systems you need the OTG protocol

Q: 6. Does this only read the regular SD size cards or will it also read the micro-SD cards?

A: MicroSDXC Memory Cards will not fit in the Apple USB Type-C to SD Card Reader's card slot. However, you could use the adapter included with most microSDXC cards.

Q: 7. compatible with the thunderbolt/USB 4 on my mac mini?

A: Yes, the Apple USB Type-C to SD Card Reader is compatible with the Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 Ports on the Mac Mini.

Q: 8. for older Android devices, is there a usb-c to 3.5mm adapter available?

A: Unfortunately, you cannot convert the digital USB-C output to a 3.5mm TRRS analog connection to make this mic work with other smartphones. I would recommend a mic with a 3.5mm TRRS connection, such as the Comica Audio CVM-VM10-K1 Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone with Grip Handle for Smartphones, BH #COCVMVM10K1.

Q: 9. Can I use this mic with my computer? I have an iMac and want to use it with my screen recording software to create tutorials. I purchased the audio jack to USBC cable to connect to my computer, but the computer isn't recognizing it.

A: You need to go TRRS into the computer for your computer to be able to see it through the mini to USB-C adapter that you are using. So you can either use the Rode SC4 adapter with the cable that was included with your SMX-30V microphone, or you can use the Rode SC7 cable as a replacement to go from the microphone into the adapter that you have connected to your computer.

Q: 10. Can this be used when there is only 1 USB-C port on the laptop?

A: No, this requires both USB-C ports to use it.
