$239.97 $357.56

The Tiffen 62mm Black Satin 1 Filter helps to reduce the overall contrast of an image and better control the highlights within a scene. In addition to rendering highlights with a grittier, more grainy appearance, this filter also helps to subtly soften facial blemishes and wrinkles for a natural, refined look. The 1 density provides less contrast and highlight reduction than the 2, while still producing a soft, yet natural appearance.

This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can you use two filters at a time?

A: Yes, but, depending on the camera and the lens, you can start to get vignetting as the filter stack moves further away from the lens.

Q: 2. All the lenses I would be using these on are 77mm. If I buy the 82mm ND filters and use them with a 77-82 step-up ring, wouldn't this eliminate any possible vignetting?

A: All these answers are right on the money! Exactly what I do and how I do it.

Q: 3. Will it leave some soft color? Or will it always look B&W? Or, was the sample image converted to B&W?Thanks,MJ

A: That filter only lets the infrared spectrum of light to come through and hit the sensor. And IR light is Red. So you can convert it to black and white or change the white color balance to achieve different IR color effects. You can do all this in post with programs like Photoshop or Lightroom.

Q: 4. Is it threaded in front so it can retain lens cap?

A: The Tiffen Multicoated UV Protection Filter (55mm) has a 55mm front thread accesory. You can connect the 55mm lens cap on top of the filter.

Q: 5. Will a camera lens cap fit with the filter on or do you have to remove the filter to put the cap back on the lens?

A: You can use a lens cap when any of the filters in the Tiffen 62mm Digital Essentials Filter Kit are mounted to a lens.

Q: 6. I have a D600 (full-frame) and want to purchase the correct filters. Is the only difference in the 62mm filters and the 62mm wide angle filters the vignetting if on a cropped sensor camera?

A: Our Wide Angle filters do not have front filter threads. This is done to decrease the likelyhood of vignetting when shooting at lower (wide angle) focal lengths. especially with cropped sensor cameras. Other than this fact, the filters are the same.

Q: 7. Can you get just one large set like 77mm and expect to be able to use them with step up rings, like you can with ND filters?

A: Yes you can. I just tested it using 3 step up rings. You have to focus manually.

Q: 8. Can the Tiffen 77 MM Variable Neutral Density filter be stacked on top of these filters and if so, does doing so cause any color issues?

A: Yes, you can stack the 77VND filter on top of these. Depending upon which camera body/sensor you have, how long your exposure is and how much IR light there is present in your scene you may experience IR pollution resulting in a color shift. You may want to consider the Tiffen Apex filter instead, which is a 10 stop filter designed for long exposures with IR protection up to 1100nm.a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1107539-REG/tiffen_77irnd30hm_77mm_apex_irnd3_0hm_filter.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1107539-REG/tiffen_77irnd30hm_77mm_apex_irnd3_0hm_filter.html/a

Q: 9. Will this fit a Nikon d3200 18-55mm lens

A: Nikon D3200 was bundle with the Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II Lens which has a 52mm filter thread size. You will need Tiffen 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter instead of the Tiffen 55mm Circular Polarizing Filter.

Q: 10. Can you stack the ND and the circular polarizer filters? If you do is the filter factor additive?

A: Yes, you can stack and yes, additive. We recommend putting the CP filter on the outside.
