The Tiffen 67mm Black Satin 3 Filter helps to reduce the overall contrast of an image and better control the highlights within a scene. In addition to rendering highlights with a grittier, more grainy appearance, this filter also helps to subtly soften facial blemishes and wrinkles for a natural, refined look. The 3 density provides more contrast and highlight reduction than the 2, while still producing a soft, yet natural appearance.

This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this particular filter downgrade image sharpness in any way vs. not using a filter at all?

A: Technically, any glass layer in a lens system scatters light and decreases sharpness. However, the reality is good filters will not affect sharpness to any degree you can see. Frankly, other factors such as camera shake, focus, subject movement, aperture, lighting and contrast have far greater influence on image sharpness than a quality filter such as this one.

Q: 2. Will this work with a Canon R5?

A: The Hoya 67mm R72 Infrared Filter will fit any lens that has a 67mm filter thread. You can use the filter on a lens that is attached to the Canon R5.

Q: 3. How thin is this Hoya HD3 49mm UV filter?

A: This filter has a frame thickness of 5mm.

Q: 4. Will this filter work on a Fuji XE 2?

A: No it will not Infrared Filters are not made for digital cameras , all digital cameras have IR blocking filter and this filter blocks the other visible light

Q: 5. Does this filter have any coatings?

A: This Sigma WR UV Filter is coated to repel water drops and resist smudging from fingerprints. It is also treated to exhibit anti static properties to prevent microscopic dust from clinging to the front surface. This helps to ensure sharp images.

Q: 6. Are the Zeiss Filters compatible with Nikkor lens?

A: See no reason why not. It depends on the front filter thread size of the Nikkor lens. Should be compatible with 67mm.Good luck'Shmulik

Q: 7. How many stops does this filter add to the exposure time?

A: An R72 filter will block about 7 stops of light but it will vary depending on the time of day, time of year and the anti aliasing filter that is built into your camera. Different times of the day and year have different amounts of IR light which will affect your exposure times. So you will need to experiment.

Q: 8. If I purchase the Polarizer Filter do I need the UV Filter also?

A: Charles;A polarizer is only good for certain times (there is no use at night for a polarizing filter or indoors), while a UV can be kept on day or night, indoors or out. Not only does it serve as a haze reducer, it is also a good protector for the front lens element.

Q: 9. will this work on sony alpha cameras? i heard you need to modify the camera in order for this to work? I have a7s and a6500

A: I have not tried it on the camera.I have heard that you need to modify the filters on the sensor so that it only sees infrared light. The filter is very dark to the normal eye, but the film has no problem receiving the infrared. you would think that no light is getting through. Good like!

Q: 10. Is the filter ring made of brass or aluminum?

A: The ZEISS UV and POL filter housings are made from aluminum.
