Q: 1. will this work on a nikon d300s please?
A: Yes will work but only in manual mode...
Q: 2. I want to use my old Minolta SR mount lenses (28-135 Astron Zoom and Tamron 300mm Tele) on my new Nikon D7200. I know the Fotodiox adapter will do the trick but confused about the multiplication factors. I note that in one foram answer the it says that an 85mm lens becomes (equiv.) to 119mm due to 1.4x 85 but has to be multiplied again, ie 119 x 1.5 = 178.5mm when DX format is taken into account. Another answer says for a D7000 (which is DX) you only multiply the focal length by the 1.4x (on a 600mm in this case, becoming 840mm).I thought the 1.4x factor was for the difference between FX and DX. Would my 300mm become equivalent to 420mm, 450mm or 420 x 1.5 = 620? I was under the impression that on a full frame FX, the lens stays as same focal length and only multiplied when using on DX format as are the D7000 series.
A: Dont let all of this multiplication factor information confuse you. The 1.4 factor mentioned in the documentation is referring to the fact that it includes a lens in the adaptor to correct for the difference of the lens from the original Nikon Camera mount flange. That pertains to focus only and not crop factor. It is included to eliminate any focus issue so you dont have to worry about that. What you need to know is your Minalta mount lenses will only work in manual focus when used on your Nikon D7200 with this adaptor. You should still get focus confirmation in your viewfinder with this combination though. You will also want to configure the lenses individually in the Non-CPU setup menu for accurate metering. The 1.5 crop factor you have heard or read about is a separate concern than the mentioned 1.4 focus correction lens included in this adaptor as I discussed above. An FX (full frame) lens will have a 1.5 crop factor on a DX (APS-C cropped) sensor camera such as your Nikon D7200. I hope this helps.
Q: 3. I understand about the altered focal length, but what is the quality of the image: sharpness, contrast, etc.?
A: Image quality is fair, remember there is a glass element in the adapter to allow for infinity focus.
Q: 4. Hi, is this addapter good for D700?
A: The Vello Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F-Mount Camera Lens Adapter allows Minolta MD lenses to be mounted on the Nikon D700 SLR Digital Camera.
Q: 5. Hello, I'm using a Lumix G7 with a lens turbo Nikon-M43 adapter. Do you think I could adapt an older Minolta MD W.Rokkor-X 24mm f/2.8 with the FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F Mount ? That means I'd have the Turbo Lens + this adapter+ the Minolta MD W.Rokkor-X 24mm f/2.8? Any idea if I'm going to retain somewhat of a wide angle?
A: In theory you should be able to get the lens mounted on your camera. However, you won't have the wide angle from the 24mm. Due to the crop factor of your m4/3 body, the lens will have the field of view of a 48mm.
Q: 6. How do I remove the glass element?
A: Although there are comments saying the glass elements canât be removed, I own it and easily removed them. Wear a fresh rubber glove to improve traction and unscrew the metal retaining ring. The ring and two pieces of glass come out. You can then use the adapter for close focus only but it means you avoid introducing additional (and inferior) glass.
Q: 7. Will a Minolta X370 lens work with a Nikon F2 when using this adapter? Thanks.
A: Yes. The FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F Mount Camera will allow you to use MD mount lenses from the X370 on a Nikon F2. There is a 1.4x teleconverter in the adapter in order to maintain infinity focus so your lenses will appear magnified.
Q: 8. With the 1.4 X correction, does this mean than a Minolta MD 85mm lens becomes a 119mm (85X1.4=119) on an FX body and a 178.5mm lens on a DX body (85X1.4=119X1.5=178.5)?
A: Yes, you are correct. Your 85mm lens will be multiplied by 1.4x on an FX sensor. On a DX sensor, it will be 85mm by 1.4x, multiplied by another 1.5x. This is due to the necessary adjustment for infinity focus compatibility.
Q: 9. Can the corrective glass element be easily removed for macro photography (and later replaced)?
A: The Vello Minolta MD Lens to Nikon F-Mount Camera Lens Adapter is not designed to allow removing the glass optic.
Q: 10. Is this adapter has aperture control dial in order to use it with auto focus Minolta lenses?
A: This adapter does not control the lens in any way. Aperture would be controlled on the lens. Minolta MD lenses were not Auto Focus lenses.
