A: I assume you are talking about something like a Black Rapid Shoulder strap and attaching that via the D-ring on the Quick Release plate. I certainly would not. But, I do not leave my quick release plate attached to the bottom of any of my three Nikon bodies unless I am shooting night photography and will need my tripod on a constant basis. And, in that case, I would remove my black rapid strap which screws into that base hole via it's own device. If you have not already purchased a strap, that would attach to the base, I suggest you buy the Black Rapid strap. Worth the money and if you have multiple bodies, that strap allows you to have across your body, two cameras without any around your neck or banging into one another. In addition, it makes shooting and hiking, etc. so easy.
