Q: 1. How will the iMac pro base model handle 100 to 500mb psd images?
A: The iMac Pro easily handles images of this size. I have built panoramic pictures using a Canon 5DS where each photo that was stitched was 50mb to begin with. On my old Mac book pro I had time to refill a drink and maybe make a phone call. On the iMac Pro it can still take a minute if there are about ten images. On a side note my iMac Pro is headed t the Genius Bar today because it won’t power up. I definitely recommend buying the Apple Care package. Q: 2. Can you upgrade the RAM yourself on the iMac Pro?
A: Probably not a good idea... I seen on the web where they used what looks like a small Pizza cutter to break the seal between the metal frame and the glass (don't even bother with the heating process). then I seen the dude handle the memory sticks without a grounding wrist band and a connector to ground. I worked in the computer industry for over 46 years, and what I saw could do more damage with ESD to the entire system. If you have the grounding system and really want to do this, then have at it with a great deal of caution. However, you could end up with a $5,000+ dead computer and I doubt that Apple will cover your loss...
Q: 3. Can you use a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C Female to Type-A Male Adapter on this USB-C cable into a PC with only USB -A ports?
A: Yes. You will be able to plug this into a USB-A slot using the included USB-C to USB-A cable.
Q: 4. can i attach my dell monitor to for an additional screen?
A: Yes, you can connect multiple displays to the iMac Pro.
Q: 5. Does this come with a usb-c to regular usb cable?
A: Yes the Thronmax MDrill One Pro comes with a USB Cable (Type-A to Type-C).
Q: 6. What do you do with dust accumulation inside the iMac?
A: Hi Ryan, I've owned my iMac Pro for a few months, with no dust accumulation. Cheers, Nick
Q: 7. Are there any Imac pro owners who are editing 4k with gh5?what are the optimum specs for editing GH5 4K?thank you
A: Hey Kenny, I am editing 4k video from my Sony A7Sii with the new iMac Pro on FCPX 4.1. I don't have gh5. I got the maxed-out 16 processor system and I have not had any issues. I have background rendering selected and everything works smoothly. Best of luck!
Q: 8. Are there known issues with the iMac Pro and the Logitech MX Master mouse?
A: No issues reported on our end.
Q: 9. Did Apple loose its mind??? 5.5K for base LOL
A: sorry, the base model is $5000 with the Vega 56. this is not an average consumer product and is not comparable to the IMAC. this machine is for heavy animation/3D rendering. this is something for content creators and professionals
Q: 10. Is it Worth it?I had an iMac for 8 years. I was able to upgrade the RAM after 4 years. I paid $3000.00 plus at the time got great life with little hassle. The PC Operating System has gotten better...There seem to be less viruses than the past...and the operating system..Windows 10 is quite stable. Is it worth paying for an iMac Pro that I can do little to for upgrading something as simple as Ram. I can get a PC that is kitted out and at least upgrade a few components if needed. I don't know tthis time around Apple if I truly want to give you my Money.-2nd Guest
A: It depends on how you plan to use the iMac Pro. If you commonly use multiple applications at the same time; work with video editing and format conversion; develop software, or undertake complex simulations, then the iMac Pro would be a great option. If you use your computer for word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing; and similar work, then an a new standard iMac is a great option. I would recommend that you avoid configuring a standard iMac with a top end CPU and GPU because of heat management issues that cause the fans to run, which can annoy some users. The iMac Pro has a completely different dual fan cooling system and I have yet to hear the iMac Pro's fan run. Also not that the CPU, memory, and flash drives are upgradable with the new iMac Pro, but it's something probably best left to a certified Apple service facility. With 32 GB of RAM the minimum configuration for the iMac Pro, you should be in great shape for a long time, unless you begin to work with 4K video in the future. Actually, the iMac Pro is a pretty good deal if you just consider the costs of a Xeon W series CPU, the Radeon Pro Vega graphics processor, the insanely fast flash drive, the stunning 5K monitor, and 32GB of 2666MHz DDR4 ECC memory. Plus the iMac has a second separate GPU, the T2, that manages overhead activities and security.
