The DSLR Kirk Neff Baseplate 2.0 from SHAPE is a 15mm rod baseplate designed for DSLR cameras that utilizes a standard V-lock quick-release system. The quick-release plate provides a 1/4"-20 threaded camera screw and has rubber stoppers at the back to prevent your camera from twisting during operation. The rubber stoppers can be adjusted and removed using the included hex key. For alignment and balance adjustments, the V-lock delta adapter on the bottom of the quick-release plate can be also adjusted forward/backward, and the camera screw can be placed in a front or rear position - using appropriate hex keys.

The baseplate itself features two 15mm rod ports with thumbscrews. It's design places the optical center of camera between the two rods and places the lens at a height suitable for use with a matte box. A pair of 8" aluminum rods come included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you make this a non-offset shoulder rig if you wanted, with just one set of rods? The reason I ask is if I could use the offset for my c100 (rear monitor) or one set of rods on my shoulder for c300 (different monitor).

A: Hi Bobby, Thanks to use SHAPE products on your camera system. If you already have an OFFSET shoulder rig for the C-100 you can just buy a pair of 18 inches rods and you'll able to transform your rig into one set to use with C-300 camera. To do so, you have to take off the OFFSET bracket and to add the rods so that you'll have the new configuration ready to use with your Canon C-300. But if you're looking for a straight rig (in line configuration) SHAPE already have one that you can buy.

Q: 2. Can the shoulder pad be used with a V Lock tripod plate?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 3. The photo shows the camera user with a rod coming down from the rig and connecting to his waist. What is this, and is it included in the bundle?

A: That part is not included in this bundle. It is called the SHAPE Telescopic Support Arm with Rod Bloc B&H # SHARM2 MFR # ARM2

Q: 5. The current bundle includes an extension cable for Canon's grip. How do you mount the original grip to the rig? Is the bundle complete?

A: Hello Dear Customer!Thank you for your question! The bundle does in fact include our C100-C300-C500 bracket (HAC300)https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/867118-REG/SHAPE_hac300_C300_Bracket_for_C300.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/867118-REG/SHAPE_hac300_C300_Bracket_for_C300.html/a which you attach by replacing the right rubber handgrip, and then attach the original Canon's grip. B&H will correct this mistake on their website. We apologise for this issue. We thank you for your interest in our products!Best regards,The SHAPE team

Q: 6. could this kit fit a Blackmagic 6K Pro and Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens for the follow focus?

A: Yes, The SHAPE DSLR Kirk Neff Offset Rig is a Universal solution. It will work with many camera models including the Pocket 6K Pro from Black Magic. The only thing that you may need to add is a gear for your lens so the follow focus would be able to grip the lens. Gear ideas - B&H # WILU or B&H # SHLGKIT8

Q: 7. what would be the best piece of gear to mount a v-mount battery to the back of this to use as a counterweight?

A: There are many solutions that would work with the SHAPE DSLR Kirk Neff Rig 15mm rods. Idea https://bhpho.to/3rhPI1X More ideas https://bhpho.to/347ifi9. We also have 15mm counterweights. https://bhpho.to/3Hnj8kS

Q: 8. I was at the 2015 NAB Show, and I'm almost certain I saw one of these with a Canon C100 Mark II mounted on it. Is that possible? Is there an additional plate needed for that? I don't remember seeing one, but just wanted to make sure before I pursued purchasing one of these.

A: I'm only familiar with it in the fs7.

Q: 9. Is the pad on the back weighted to provide balance with the camera on the front?

A: It is not. You would need to add a counterweight.

Q: 10. This product photo shows the back shoulder pad extension, does that come with this rig package? And also If I buy the counterweight separate, how does it go onto the rig?

A: Hi Mitchel ,yes the shoulder pad extension come with the rig, if you use any C series camera you need to buy the counterweight sold separately. The pad extension that come with the rig is just plastic and with the camera mounted on the rig you will face some unbalancing problem. With the optional counterweight you will solve all the balance problems. The rig will be a little bit heavy but is ok. Regarding the mounting for both the original and the optional shoulder pad hare tail mounted on the back of the rig true a butterfly screw and a washer. Hope this information help you to chose the right gear for your camera. Happy filming.Daniele

I am a DP and own a rental house. I love that you can set the camera down and it stands up right. I purchased the v mount plate and you can now go straight from hh to tripod. Everything is quickly adjustable on this rig. I really like it. Its a great rig. The only con I have is that SHAPE has made a great product but its build quality is still not as good as Zuccuto. But still very good. The handle extension is great as well. You can finally adjust it without a screwdriver. Sony should have done better than that.
