Q: 1. The overview says 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS. 27-202.5mm equivalent zoom for APS-C-format E-mount mirrorless cameras , whereas the Specs say 18-135mm. Comparable 35mm focal length: 27-202.5mm .If the specs are correct, the overview should say 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS. 27-202.5mm for 35mm full-frame cameras . Can you please clarify?

A: Hi Abhinav S., the lens is designed for APS-C format camera when it is used on the full-frame camera the effective focal length will also change to 27-202.5mm. Because the camera will adjust the sensor area to APS-C size in order to utilize the lens.

Q: 2. Does this lens have weather sealing?

A: Unfortunately, the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens does not provide weather-sealing.

Q: 3. Can the batteries be charged while attached to the camera?

A: you can charge the batteries through the USB charger but it will charge slower that on an external charger.

Q: 4. Is there and optical difference with 18-105mm vs 18-135mm or same? With is superior quality?

A: Hello, quality can be subjective, and there is a definate difference in the physical optical design. There are MTF charts that you can compare online.

Q: 5. will this work with the a6600?

A: it is not compatible with the A6600

Q: 6. Is it coming with lens hood? If so, why we dont see any picture on 18-135mm w/lens hood?

A: Yes, lens hood is included. I received my lens two days ago.

Q: 7. does this fit A65?

A: Sorry, this is only for the Sony a6500. It will not fit the Sony Alpha SLT-A65.

Q: 8. From the picture it looks like the cable has to loop upside down to the connection on the camera. Is the cable actually not shorter and able to do a straight connection to the camera terminal??

A: Yes, the connector to the camera is angled up instead of down so it has to loop the other way to connect to the grip but it is long enough and doesn't interfere with the HDMI connector on the camera.

Q: 9. I love this lens and use it for everything. However, I'm wondering if I should buy a SEL50F18 prime lens? What would the difference or the benefit be between using my SEL18135 at 50mm and using the SEL50F18?

A: I have the 50mm f1.8 which I use when shooting in low light but for walking around I usually use the kit lens. I purchased the 18-135 yesterday after trying it out because I wanted a walk around lens with more reach than the kit lens. From the test shots that I took, this lens seems to be as sharp as the 50mm f1.8 but not as sharp as the sigmas 30mm f2.8 and 19mm f2.8. I dont think I will be using my 55-210 any more since reach difference is not much when looking at the images and the images from the 50-210 after about 100mm are very soft anyway. Unfortunately, I did not get to try the 18-105 f4 but I think the extra reach of the 18-135 will prove more of an advantage than the constant aperture of the 18-105 for my use. In addition, I think the 18-135 being lighter goes well with the aps-c bodies and is more balanced. While at the store I did get to try the 18-200 OSS LE which I found unworthy of the extra $250 price difference, it is a but heavier, longer and also kind of soft from what I was able to see in my tests. I compared the a6000 paired with the 18-135 to the rx100vi. The rx100vi is an amazing little camera but, in my opinion, not worth the $1200 it sells for. And the sony a6500 upgrade is not worth the extra $1000 when compared to the a6000. If you shoot video, your needs are different and the lens/camera choices you make will most likely be different than mine.

Q: 10. I have a sony a6500. Which of these lenses are best for traveling (better image quality, sharper image, etc) if you can only take one with you? 18-105 / 18-135 or 18-200?

A: The 18-105 is better for video, the 18-200 for reach, but the 18-135 is better for edge to edge clarity and auto focus, and manual zoom is better for still photography.
