The B1 Bluetooth Receiver utilizes the AKM AK4396 DAC for low noise and high-fidelity. The B1 functions as an upsampling 24-bit Bluetooth DAC and will pad all bit depths internally to 24-bits, thus achieving a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Due to the AK4396A's high signal-to-noise specs, 24-bit digital signal upsampling, and the added benefit of triple redundancy power source conversion and filtering, the B1 showcases low noise and low distortion characteristics with a noticeable improvement over typical Bluetooth devices.

The B1 features aptX HD coding, which produces high-quality sound quality when used with compatible Bluetooth devices. The B1 is backwards-compatible with all previous Bluetooth implementations, so you can wirelessly stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device.

The B1 also functions as a wireless audio bridge from your device to your favorite DAC or preamp. Use the internal DAC with RCA analog outputs or connect the optical output into another DAC.

  • Stream high-resolution 24-bit digital audio from the Audioengine B1 to any music system with an audio input

  • Streams audio from media players such as Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, and more

  • Aluminum case with audiophile-grade connectors

  • Attached external antenna for extended range

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The 5V-DC port looks like a micro USB, is this correct? And does it come with a power adapter or do I need to supply one?

A: You are correct it is a micro USB connector and it does come with a USB power supply and cable

Q: 2. I was wondering how you switch sources on these speakers. Or as suggested in the reviews, can you really leave multiple sources plugged in and the speakers just automatically play whatever they're receiving a signal from?

A: No switches necessary. Whatever connected device is playing will be played by the speakers.

Q: 3. Can I use this device to listen to music stored on my iphone through a vintage sansui receiver and speakers?

A: Sure. Pair your iPhone via Bluetooth with the Audioengine B1 and connect the B1 receiver to the Sansui receiver's audio input.

Q: 4. My Yamaha RX-V663 receiver does not have a USB output. What type of USB power adapter do I need to power the Audioengine B1 to be able to use it with my receiver?

A: it plugs into an ac wall outlet for power and then optical or rca input on receiver for the audio output

Q: 5. Is there anything besides an extended range, that makes this receiver more accurate in conveying signal to a stereo system? What is it about this that makes it better than other receivers?

A: The Bluetooth version and the codec along with the DAC used makes this one among the best receivers we carry.

Q: 6. Can the Audioengine B2 be combined with other Audioengine speakers or other Bluetooth speakers to create a party type system?

A: No. This speaker cannot be connected in a party-chain fashion to other bluetooth speakers.

Q: 7. How do these compare to the A5+ model?

A: Compared to the Audioengine A5+ the HD6 Bluetooth Speaker System are larger speakers with a bigger woofers and tweeters. These are similar speakers with the main differences been size, and power the HD6 has RMS 100W vs A5+ RMS 50W. When choosing one over the other it is important to consider the space the speakers need to fill.

Q: 8. Does this sound better than the bose bluetooth audio adapter?

A: I don't think my answer will be helpful because I connect the B1 through the toslink therefore it defaults to the DAC in my receiver. Through this connect it definitely sounds better than the Bose. However, when I was using the Bose I was connected using the RCA calbe which default to the DAC in the Bose and not my receiver. My receiver may have a better DAC than the Bose which explains the better sounds.

Q: 9. Can I use this with a PA system or mixer if I use the right cables to connect it? How far is the range?

A: Yes I have it in a Presonus RM system with a Stereo XLR to RCA cable and works great

Q: 10. are rack mount spacers available for this?

A: The BT-1L casing is designed to be used with a compatible Vocopro system as a module, unfortunately not designed for a standard rack. It does support standalone use however and includes power supply and 1/8 cable.

I use it with the Audioengine 5+ and couldn't be happier. Easy to pair up with the Macbook Air and the iPhone. I have had it for around a week and no complaints.
