I got a FZ1000 and was blown away by the image quality and the other features that now I cannot live without. I damaged the screen one during a shoot (I wish the camera was weatherproof) and bought a second FZ1000. Clients are now asking for video in addition to stills, so I just purchased the FZ2500. I used it over the weekend and was very impressed. I now only use my Nikon gear for shoots that require specialty lenses (fish eye or really wide angle). I don't miss the weight of the Nikon, and having one lens that will do 90% of what I need is great.
