The Swift Optical M17T-P Infinity-Corrected Corded LED Binocular Microscope is a versatile microscopy device that can be easily used by researchers, inspectors, industrial professionals, and forensic technicians with the capability to attach a camera for recording, streaming, or casting to a projector.

The trinocular head has a C-mount camera port on the top that accepts an optional adapter, so C-mount imaging devices can be attached without affecting the ability to use the eyepieces. Its binocular-view 10x wide field eyepieces, when combined with the four objectives, produce magnifications from 40x to 1000x. Plan (planar) objectives present a flat field of view across almost the entire field of view, so the only noticeable curvature (spherical aberration) will be around the extreme edges of the view. The objectives are all parfocal and parcentered, so that little or no focus adjustment is required when changing magnifications, and the center of the view will remain consistent between objectives. The optical performance is complemented by a dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser, Siedentopf-style head, left-eye dioptric correction, and a wide interpupillary adjustment range—making it easy to achieve tack-sharp views and convenient for multiple people to share the eyepieces. A large tray features a mechanical specimen holder, a 1.25 rack-and-pinion Abbe condenser, and an iris-style diaphragm.

  • Trinocular head features a camera port on the top that allows optional imaging systems to be attached for streaming over the Internet, recording to a computer, or casting to a projector for classroom demonstrations
  • Head set at a 30° angle to place user's head in a comfortable viewing position
  • Binocular eyepiece configuration makes it easier and more comfortable to use versus monocular heads
  • Siedentopf-style head design enables the interpupillary distance between eyepieces to be adjusted without affecting the focus—making it easier and more convenient to share between multiple people
  • Left-eye dioptric correction enables precise accommodation for individual eye prescriptions to ensure views are tack sharp for all users
  • Wide interpupillary adjustment range accommodates a variety of users
  • Microscope runs on 110-220 VAC power, supplied with a three-prong grounded US wall outlet plug

  • Comfortable binocular-view eyepieces with 54-76mm Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment
  • Selectable magnifications: 40x, 100x, 400x, and 1000x
  • Dual wide field 10x 20mm eyepieces
  • DIN standard 4x (0.10 N.A.), 10x (0.25 N.A.), 40xR (0.65 N.A.), and 100xR oil immersion (1.25 N.A.) plan objectives
  • 100x objective is spring-loaded and sealed to protect optics from contact or oil damage
  • Infinity corrected optical system allows auxiliary components like illuminators and polarizers to be added into the optical path with only a minimal effect on focus—ideal for research labs, forensics, and industrial and metallurgical applications
  • Plan (planar) objectives correct spherical aberration for virtually the entire field of view so specimens will appear flat with the only perceptible curvature at the edges
  • Objectives are parfocal so little or no focus correction is required when switching between magnifications and parcentered so the center of the view will remain the same when changing objectives
  • Color-coded objectives provide fast identification of the selected magnification
  • Quad-objective turret is mounted in reverse position to facilitate ease in changing slides with ball bearings for smooth and precise positioning of objectives

  • Dual-speed coarse and fine rack-and-pinion focusing mechanism moves the stage up and down to achieve proper focus
  • Coarse tension adjustment prevents stage slippage so focusing remains sharp when knob is released
  • Large 5.75 x 5.5" stage easily holds specimens other than slides
  • Built-in, low-profile, ball-bearing mounted mechanical specimen holder with low-position coaxial controls
  • 1.25 Abbe rack-and-pinion condenser
  • Iris-style diaphragm with lever control allows user to improve their subject's contrast for improved views
  • Variable-intensity lower 3W LED illuminator provides transmitted specimen illumination

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this kit come with the 9 different types of attachments?

A: In this kit, it will come with the Matthews Infinity Arm, Soft Carrying Case and 2 x 1/4"-20 Male Ball Tips. The additional attachments can be purchased separately: 1/4"-20 female (429626-1), 1/4"-20 male (429626-2), 3/8"-16 female (429626-3), 3/8"-16 male (429626-4), GoPro mount (429626-5) 5/8" female (429626-6), Mini Matthellini clamp (429626-7), Shoe mount (429626-8), 5/8" male (429626-9)

Q: 2. Does it have Refresh Pixels feature? If yes then does it allow to schedule that process for the convenient time?

A: The ASUS Republic of Gamers Swift PG42UQ 41.5" 4K HDR 138 Hz Gaming Monitor does not have this feature.

Q: 3. Is it possible to adapt any of the ball 1/4 20s to have Arri locating pins? As great as the arm is, I have issues with it twisting.

A: Unfortunately at this moment Matthews does not have an option for adding an adapter with locator pins.

Q: 4. Does this arm allow for extensions to make it 3 or 4 times longer? Like what Zacuto does?

A: The two arms of the Infinity Arm are of fixed length. However, spare ball heads are available from Matthews which can be screwed into an extension rod to make the arms longer. Naturally, the useable length of any extension will depend on the load you put on it. An extension rod of about 5/8 diameter would be useful to mount lights, etc, on the arms. I am in the process of making some of these about 6 long but this requires a lathe although any small engineering company could machine these for you. Much easier is that B&H sells 5/8 (16mm) rigging rods (of various lengths with 1/4 and 3/8 holes in the ends called 9.SOLUTIONS 16mm Rod Set (5.9 ) B&H # 9S9VBROD5 MFR # 9.VBROD5The Matthews Infinity Arm seems expensive at first sight but I am using it professionally and can assure you that it is absolutely solid, easy to use and extremely well made. The quick-change ball heads make it really easy to change items to mount almost anything onto it. I use it for holding a clip with camera shots or scripts or lights, mics or a monitor. Matthews customer service is great as I had some questions about the size of the Arm which Matthews took great trouble to answer in detail. It seemed expensive when I bought it (although B&H, as always, were cheaper than buying it in England which is why I buy a lot from B&H!) but I am glad I did as it is well worth the cost and seems better than anything else although I suggest you check its weight. I use mine mounted onto my Miller tripod head so the weight doesn't matter but it might if you had to carry it around a lot. It's a really well-made solid piece of professional engineering. Both Matthews' and B&H's service were superb.

Q: 5. What port do you use for gaming, for best performance. Display Port or the HDMI 2.1?

A: With the ASUS Republic of Gamers Swift PG42UQ 41.5" 4K HDR 138 Hz Gaming Monitor, the performance would be the same whether it's HDMI or Displayport.

Q: 6. Does it work on 220 volt electricity?

A: Yes, the input power of the ASUS Republic of Gamers Swift PG42UQ 41.5" 4K HDR 138 Hz Gaming Monitor is 100 to 240 VAC (50 / 60 Hz), so you would just need a plug adapter for the type that's used where you're located.

Q: 7. Can this be used for laptops/Macs/Any surface PC?

A: The AC Infinity AIRCOM T9 A/V Top-Exhaust Component Cooling System is made primarily to cool offer AV equipment like amplifiers inside of AV receivers for example. It is meant to be installed above such a device, so as to remove hot air more quickly. This would not work as ideally in the scenario where you would be using a laptop because of the direction of the air is pulled.
