Q: 1. Does it work with a Nikon 200-500. Why is it no on the list?

A: Hello the following Gimbal is ideal for lens 300mm, 500mm, etc. An additional quick release plate is needed in order to attach the lens or you can replace tripod collar Oben QR-53 Long Lens Quick Release Plate (5.3") https://bhpho.to/38xc5Gs Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens https://bhpho.to/2Y7Z0l7

Q: 2. I have a Nikon z6ii and Nikon 500m PF. Will the sidekick work with this combo? I saw in the instructions that smaller lenses/cameras may not work

A: Yes the Nikon Z6 II equipped with the Nikon FTZ adapter and the Nikon AF-S 500mm PF lens can be used on the SK100.

Q: 3. Has anyone used this with a RRS BH-40 w/ the full size Lever clamp? BH-40 LR II

A: Though this ball head will work with the Wimberly, I would not recommend it. We usually recommend heads that hold 30 or more pounds for gimbal assemblies, especially if you are to use a prime lens larger than 400mm.

Q: 4. Will the Extra-Small bag fit a Sony A7C with the kit lens plus a Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens and an ND Filter?

A: Manfrotto Advanced III 2L Camera Shoulder Bag (Extra Small) just fits the Sony a7C Mirrorless Camera with the kit lens. An additional lens wouldn't fit.

Q: 5. I have Nikon 200-500 with the RRS collar and foot. Does this foot fit perfectly tight on the Sidekick?

A: Yes, fully compatible.

Q: 6. I presently have a Benro A1192TB0 Travel Flat II Tripod. Will this gimbal head work with it?

A: While I am not familiar with your tripod, it has the appropriate fitting on top of the ball. It should work.

Q: 7. Will a battery grip get in the way of the ballhead/sidekick when the lens/camera is pointed up?

A: My battery grip hits the ball head...and at not too sharp an angle up. The solution in the instructions involves tilting the Sidekick from it's standard orientation= vertical, by loosening the main ballhead. Not the panning knob, but the main ballhead. And then simple tilt the Sidekick towards you if you want to shoot up more (higher elevation), or away from you if you want to shoot down. Lock the ballhead down once you have the elevation where you want it. Doing this you can shoot point up as much as you want...of course, you won't be able to shoot down now unless you readjust the ballhead to return the sidekick to vertical or even past vertical to shoot down at a steep angle. None of this changes the total range of motion between up and down. It changes where that range is expressed. Normal up and down with the sidekick vertical, mostly up with the sidekick leaning towards you, or mostly down with the sidekick leaning away from you. In all 3 of these orientations, the ball head quick release joint is sitting at the bottom of the cut out "U". You don't lift it off the bottom to tilt the sidekick...just to be clear. Loosen the ballhead and you could spin the sidekick upside down while the quick release of the ballhead stayed at the bottom of the "U".

Q: 8. Does this fit the Canon Canonet QL17 QL 17 G-III?

A: Yes the Manfrotto Advanced III 2L Camera Shoulder Bag (Extra Small) is large enough for the Canon QL17 Giii camera.

Q: 9. The images seem to show a Bowen's mount on this Softbox. Is this included?

A: The ring is used to give it shape for the images. A ring is not included with this softbox.

Q: 10. I currently have a Benro A2580F tripod with a manfrotto pan/tilt head. I shoot birds with a D7200 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens. I want to get the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Gimbal but need recommendation for a ball head. Looking for best performance-to-value ball head?

A: I use a standard size ball head and use the side kick with no problems. I have an d800e with a 290 to 50th tele and it works fine. One additional bit of kit get the long Wimberley Acra foot to be able to balance the rig

Like all Wimbereley equipment, its top quality. A great design, very robust and the detail of Wimberely finish is excellent. I use this with a Kirk BH-1 ballhead and it works perfectly. Ive used the Wimberley gimbal and find the ballhead with Sidekick combo to be more versatile for my applications.

The sidekick is quick to mount to a tripod with a ball head and an arca-swiss plate at the base of the sidekick and one for the foot of the lens (need 2 plates). Lens collar may need to be turned around on lens to get it mounted correctly to the side kick. Once knobs are tightened camera is secure. Allows photography of birds in flight, high or lower in trees-providing great versatility in angle for shooting. Directly overhead shots are not possible. Sturdy - easy to use - great technology. Once it is set up with plates the sidekick is quick to mount or remove.

Besides taking landscape photos, occasionally I do BIF. The Sidekick allows me to use my ballhead into a gimbal head. Saves a lot of weight, especially during travel.

Bought this to use on a open head and tripod. Works perfect and has great movement . The balance with a canon 100-400 and 5d lll is very nice.

I used this with a 300mm 2.8 lens. Very solid and works well. Attaches easy to a ball head. This works better than just using a regular ball head with a heavy lens.

This is an alternative to an outright gimble head. As I am often using one tripod and head in the field photographing wildlife and landscapes, it is just what I needed. No changing heads, and no draging two tripods where one will do the job. I can easily and quickly switch from a long lens set up to a wide angle or fisheye.

The first time I mounted my camera to the Sidekick I fell in Love with it. I'm using it with a RRS BH-55 ball head. The reason I went with Ball & Sidekick is Ball Head is more Versible than a gimbal head. So now I have the best of both a Ball Head & Gimbal combination.

I am now able to capture birds in flight without hand holding my 150-600mm lens. This gives me leeway to move fast and track birds in flight.

I have only had this a short time and I feel it is one of the best investments in photographic equipment i have made in a long time. I have used this with a 100-400 lens with a 2X extender and it handles it great. The size and weight are such that it fits nicely into my bag. Unless you are using a really big lens, i don't know why you would want to carry a full sized rig around. It works great for following a bird in flight but I also used it to take pictures of the moon the other night. Very easy to to make fine adjustments to the camera position and it stays put when you tighten the knob.
