A: I am not familiar with Panasonic, but I use these in manual mode with Canon 580 speedlites connected to Pocket Wizard radio triggers. I have had no problems at all using the 580s with umbrellas on light stands.

A: It comes with a Ptap (Dtap) plug that you can power to a battery with that kind of port. I use Vmounts on my Red Epic and connect to that when using the system.
