Q: 1. Is this extension tube compatible with the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens (not the L series)? I'll be using it on a Canon 5D Mark III

A: Yes it is. Actually I also own a Canon 100mm Macro no L series too and I use two extension tubes with it. However you might sacrifice a little bit of sharpness when using two of them, and the depth of view is very shallow at 2.8, so you may have to shoot at very small appertures to have a better depth of view. And with this, you'll have to use a flash gun to iluminate the subject, but here is one tip: if you already own a 430 EX, 580EX or any othe flashgun, just attach a piece of white blank paper at it to bounce the light from above. This creates enough light to expose the subjects and very soft and defuse light making it very natural. You can check my instagram @dvl80 for some samples of macro with the settings I'm mentioning. Regards!Davi

Q: 2. Is the Canon EF 25 II Extension Tube compatible with my Canon 17-55 mm F/2.8 IS USM lens? Will it give me the ability to use auto focus and image stabilization with this extension tube or will I lose that ability?

A: This extension tube has full Auto focus capabilities; that's what all the pins are for they allow communication between your camera and lens. The image stabilization isn't depended on the extension tube. It's set separately on the lens. I am not sure why you want to use an extension tube on a wide-angle lens. Extension Tubes are usually used on telephoto lenses, allowing them to focus closer, and on macro lenses to gain some extra magnification. The whole point of an extension tube is to decrease the minimum focusing distance of a lens, and gain a little more magnification. A wide-angle lens inherently has a close focusing distance already, and normally you are shooting wide, and don't need any magnification, because if 35 mm is close enough, just zoom in to 55 mm. You have both abilities, but there really not usable on your lens. If you had a 600 mm lens, then this extension tube would be a good accessory to have.

Q: 3. With the canon 50mm macro lens, what is the greatest magnification achievable?

A: I have both the EF 12 II and the EF25II. I tend to be happier with the EF 12 II on my 100mm macro. I think it is a matter of preference for the work at hand. Hope this is of some help. Good Luck, m

Q: 4. If the purpose of the Canon EF 25 II is to shorten closest focusing distance and the Canon EF 400 f/5.6 L USM's closest focusing distance is 11.5 ft. By adding the EF 25 II to this lens how many feet is the extension tube reducing the focusing distance by?

A: You can Focus anywhere from 6-7' instead of 11.5' (But you lose infinity focus, I would say maximum 20' anything after that full blur) I use it only for control environments...

Q: 5. Can the EF 12 extension tuube be used to connect a canon 2x extender to a canon 70mm -300mm EF lens?

A: Yes, it is physically possible to install a EF 12 extension tube between a EF 70-300 and a EF 2x extender, thus preventing the rear element of the lens from striking the front element of the extender. It is totally impractical however. The lens will only focus on a narrow range between about 20' and 50' feet, auto focus will not work - not even on my 1Dx - and the view finder is so dark that accurate manual focus is nearly impossible. I did not experiment further, but I would expect the IQ would also be unsatisfactory. Canon has made it clear that this lens is not intended for use with extenders - and they are right.

Q: 6. Can I attach this and than use ef 1.4x + ef 2x extenders combined, mounted on a ef 300mm 2.8?

A: Unfortunately, Canon EF Extenders and Canon Extension tubes cannot be combined.

Q: 7. What are the internal dimensions?

A: The interior dimensions of the Vanguard Vesta Aspire 25 Camera Bag (Gray, 9.3L) are 10.3" x 6.8" x 8.3".

Q: 8. Will this EF 25 work well on the Canon 300mm telephoto lens?

A: It will work, but the effectiveness of an extension tube is in direct proportion to the focal length of the lens you are using it with. A 25 mm tube on a 50 mm lens is very dramatic. On a 100 mm lens it is still very noticeable but the magnification is not as extreme as with a shorter lens. I am not sure how much closer you will be able to focus with a 300 mm lens. It will change your minimum distance but I don't know if it will give you what you are looking for. You can also combine extension tubes to get closer focusing on longer lenses.

Q: 9. Will this help connect an EFS 24mm Lens to a 5D miii body?

A: Yes it will work but for focusing you have to be super close to your subject and the autofocus hunts a lot. If anything I would use this combo for stationary manual macro focusing only.

Q: 10. I want a walk around bag while actually out and about on a vacation... will it hold a Canon 70d, with a 15-85 lens and hood if reversed? I'll leave all my other gear in the hotel... I just want to protect, .. and hide the camera a bit during a trip to Key West.

A: Yes this case will fit this body and lens set up with the hood reversed on the lens.
