Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this support auto focus?

A: No it does not

Q: 2. So with this adaptor I would be able to connect not just canon lenses, but any lens that has an EF/EF-S Mount onto my GH4? Besides it having no communication with the camera, and no aperture ring, why is this product so cheap?

A: This is correct- any EF/EF-S lens can be used with this adapter. The fabrication cost of this adapter is very low, and the manufacturer is able to offer this product at a very reasonable price to reflect this and make an affordable product for consumers wishing to use this type of adapter.

Q: 3. Will this Vello adapter, LA-MFT-CFD, work on a Panasonic G1 for use with Canon FD lenses? Also, do the Canon FD lenses need to be the newer style black version or will the older ones with chrome locking ring work as well? Thanks

A: I cant really help, I havent tried it on Panasonic G1. Sorry.

Q: 4. Does this adapter support Minolta MC lenses also?

A: Yes, this Vello adapter can also support Minolta MC lenses.

Q: 5. Does anyone actually use this adopter on either the BMPCC4K or the original BMPCC cameras? I tried on both and the adopter does not fit/mount.

A: I tested FotodioX Mount Adapter for Canon EOS Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and a rokinon EF lens. The adaptor connected with the camera mount and the lens without inconveniences. The camera mount for the original Black Magic Pocket Camera is the same. If you are matching the red dots and your adapter is not connecting to your camera this unit may be detective.

Q: 6. Will this work with Contax G 21mm and Contax G 16mm lenses?

A: Yes the Metabones Contax G-Mount Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera Lens Adapter (Gold) will work with those lenses. Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or other auto functions are not retained using this adapter.

Q: 7. Will this work with the modern 'focus by wire' system in the new ef-s lenses focus ring? How does it work if they have to be powered thru the connections? I just need manual focus but this seems impossible.

A: NO, if you use lenses that have AF/MF "by wire" (meaning they need to be powered to actually move focus elements), like the Canon "STM" Lenses, then you will NOT be able to focus. However if you use lot of other lenses (Canon L and non-L versions) that have a Manual Focus ring which doesn't focus "by wire" you will have no problems at all to focus. It all depends on the Lens you mount on it. In fact there are LOT MORE lenses with Real Manual Focus Ring than "Focus by wire".

Q: 8. Will this adapter work with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera MFT mount?

A: Worked perfectly. Easily the most finely manufactured adapter I've encountered. Highly recommended.

Q: 9. When using vintage lenses, is there some cropping going on ? Or does focal distance stays the same?

A: There will be a crop factor of 2x going from a 35mm SLR lens to a MFT digital sensor. All your lens will have an angle-of-view equivalent to double their focal length. For example, a 50mm lens will look approximately 100mm, a 35mm like a 70mm, etc.

Q: 10. With this adapter can I use canon lenses on my Lumix g7?

A: Yes, you can attach Canon EF or EF-S lenses to any micro 4/3 mount camera such as Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera using FotodioX Mount Adapter for Canon EOS Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera.
