Q: 1. Ol,ele grava na sada HDMI da 5D mark II ?

A: Yes it will record the HDM output of the 5D. Note that the HDMI output of the camera may not be the expected frame rate and resolution and may contain in camera displays. It is up to camera settings to obtain a clean feed to the HDMI.

Q: 2. Does it work with the Sony HXR-NX100?

A: Yes it does. The HXR-NX100 has a Clean HDMI output which can be connected to the Video Assist.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with the Nikon D3300? It can output a clean, free from overlays feed on HDMI.

A: It should be, It has HDMI and mini BNC inputs, so far it takes signal form any device i have tried. I have not tried a Nikon camera, but it works with my Panasonic and JVC video cameras.

Q: 4. will this work with the Sony HDRfx7?

A: No. The Video assist does not record composite video

Q: 5. In the product images the Video Assist has a histogram displayed. Does this monitor support other scopes: false color, vector, etc?

A: At this time, outside of histogram, audio meters, timecode display, and more it is not known exactly what the Blackmagic Video Assist will display. Please watch the B&H website for updates as they are known.

Q: 6. Will this give my a7iii unlimited recording?

A: The Video Assist 3G 5" only has 1 SD card slot so you can only record for as long as your SD card can fit. The 7" models are the ones with 2 SD card slots you can use for continuous recording.

Q: 7. Hi, Can this record 1080 60pfs (or120pfs) from Canon XC10 camera in Prores?

A: The Canon XC10 can output 60fps through its HDMI connection in HD mode. It should work with the Video Assist and allow you to record Pro Res up to 60p. However Blackmagic has not yet released a list showing which cameras are compatible and in what modes. You may also want to consider the Atomos Ninja Assassin. It is fully compatible with the XC10 and has the added benefit of being able to record 4k in Pro Res as well.

Q: 8. This unit workshop with Sony Z5U by HDMI cable

A: In the Z5u, a full-size HDMI socket provides digital audio and video, handy not just for monitoring but for connecting to a high-quality field recorder like the nanoFLASH or the Ki Pro, or capture cards from AJA or Blackmagic Design. Connecting HDMI disables the analog video outputs.

Q: 9. If you own the blackmagic pocket cinema camera, is there really an advantage of owning this, other than the larger monitor? The only real benefit I can see if maybe recording raw on the SD card, and prores to the recorder, which begs my next question....can you record to two media at once? I assume not.

A: You would be able to record to the SD card on the BMPCC and this external recorder at the same time. Also, the Video Assists Touch Screen Monitor is 5 and 1920x1080 compared to the Pocket Cinema Cameras 3.5 800x480 screen. So you would have a larger monitor with a much higher resolution.

Q: 10. I have the Lexar 64GB Professional 1000x UHS-II SDXC card listed in the recommended accessories section. The Video Assist says no card when it's inserted. How can I fix this?

A: Blackmagic states that UHS-II cards are not compatible with this device. However, they also indicate that the 600x Lexar cards should be able to record 1080p at 30 frames, but not 60. Others have indicated that the Lexar cards don't work at all.
