Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this work with the Canon CN-E 18-80mm?
A: Yes, The CN-E lenses support 20 pin connectors and it would work with the Canon CN-E 18-80 lens.
Q: 2. Will this work on the XK6x20 lens?
A: No, this will not work with the Fujinon XK6x20 len. This is only compatible with select Fujinon ENG/EFP Lenses.
Q: 3. Does it supported with sony a6500 + sigma 16mm f1.4 and sony 18-105mm f4 g oss ?
A: Works with Sigma 16mm f1.4. Auto focus struggles with narrow depth of field so manual focus works better in that situation.
Q: 4. Will this do a macro shot for used with 24mm G Master?
A: One can use the Vello Deluxe Auto Focus Extension Tube Set for Sony E Mount with the 24mm G master lens. Using the tubes will drastically shorten the minimum focusing distance of the 24mm lens.
Q: 5. I tried these with my Sony 24-240mm, and it won't focus at all ... auto or manual. Is there some setting I am missing? I didn't expect this to be a difficult accessory to use.
A: Hi RobertThe Vello auto focus extension tubes work perfectly with Sony fixed focal length lenses, such as the 55/2.8 and even the 90/2.8 macro lens, using either manual or auto focus. However, expect no joy with zoom lenses. I did get focus using the Zeiss 24-70 mm zoom lens by auto-focus on 24 mm focal length but not on 70 mm focal length. Manual focus simply did not work at all. Using the 70-200 mm zoom I could not obtain sharp focus at any focal length, by either manual or auto focus but auto-focus gave me an almost focus at 100 mm focal length. The 24-240 mm lens would not focus at 24 mm or 100 mm focal length, by either manual or auto focus. Using auto focus the lens did detect the correct focal point but consistently overshot that point; that is the green light lit briefly as the auto-focus rolled by quickly. I believe that the problem is not with the extension tubes but with the design of Sony camera and zoom lenses. Once you put the extension tubes in, the correct focus is very close and hence the depth of correct focus is very shallow. The zoom lenses are not designed to focus so close and their limitations then show up. Peter Nixon Sorry that this reply took a week but I needed to find several hours to conduct these tests.
Q: 6. I see that they stack with each other; however, if you got two sets, could you stack the two 16mm? Or stack 3 of them?
A: It really depends on the lens you are using. With a wide angle (35mm or wider) you can not do it even with the 10 and 16 stacked. The focus point would be nside the lens . With a telephoto lens you can. There is a math equation to know wich lens you can use with the stacked adaptors, , but I forgot......
Q: 7. Will this fit the Sony RX1RII?
A: It will not as the lens on the Sony RX1RII is not removable.
Q: 8. Would I be able to attain 1:1 magnification with the sel35f18, sel50f18, sel1855, sel55-210, or sel24f18z? If so, do I need to use both tubes or would I need to get additional tunes?
A: In brief, the answer is no. In order to get 1:1 magnification, you need a total extension equal to twice the nominal focal length, including the length of the focusing helix. A 50 mm lens would require 3 o 4 sets of these rings. In general, you can focus down to an area the size of a post card (1:4), but not a postage stamp.(1:1), and the quality suffers. You would be better off with a macro lens, like a Nikon 55/.28 Micro-Nikkor plus a PK13 Nikon extension tube, which are relatively inexpensive used.
Q: 9. what software can be used to stitch the photos if you don't have Photoshop or Lightroom?
A: There are several programs that can stitch photos made using the FotodioX RhinoCam Vertex Rotating Stitching Adapter for Pentax 645 Lens to Leica L Mirrorless Cameras: Photoshop, Luminar Neo, PTGui, and Panoweaver 10 are some of the most popular programs for this.
Q: 10. Is there a longer (or extension) cable that goes to the handle? I'm actually hoping to extend it long enough to put this camera at the end of a jib.
A: There is only the Fujinon CFC-990, which is the flexible cable module for for HDTV EVM/ERD lenses.
