An ideal all-around lens, the FUJIFILM XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is a versatile 27-206mm-equivalent zoom, covering wide-angle to medium telephoto fields of view. Well-suited for travel and walkaround shooting, the expansive reach of this lens is further complemented by a sophisticated optical design, which uses ED and aspherical elements, to produce high color accuracy, sharpness, and image clarity. An HT-EBC coating also improves contrast and color neutrality by reducing flare and ghosting when working in strong lighting conditions. Also benefitting use in a variety of situations, a linear motor delivers quick and quiet autofocus performance and a five stop-effective image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake. Additionally, the lens is fully weather-sealed for working in inclement conditions.

All-in-one zoom is designed for APS-C-format Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras and offers a 27-206mm equivalent focal length range.

Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.

Four aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations, which helps to improve sharpness and realize more accurate rendering.

An HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) coating has been applied to the entire surface of each element to for controlling ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color accuracy.

A linear motor autofocus system, coupled with an internal focusing design, delivers smooth, near-silent performance that is especially beneficial to video applications and when working in noise-sensitive areas.

Complemented by an enhanced gyro sensor and unique series of algorithms, the optical stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to five stops to enable sharper imaging when working with longer focal lengths or slower shutter speeds.

The lens body incorporates 20 distinct weather seals to protect against dust and moisture, and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this older lens hold up on the X-T5 or is there another mid-zoom lens suggestion for the X-T5?

A: With a high-resolution camera like the X-T5, the FUJIFILM XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens wouldn't give the best results; the FUJIFILM XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens would produce much better results.

Q: 2. Hello! How quiet is the focusing? I'm planning to use this lens as my walk around for stills and videos with the X-T2. Thank you in advance!

A: It as been my walk around lens for 2 years and I never notice any sound. It is such a fine lens that I never use the primes I've bought and will probably sell them. It's a rather heavy lens - but I'm an 80 year old woman and don't mind it, so it's not that heavy.

Q: 3. plastic?

A: The lens is a combination of metal and plastic, the mount is metal.

Q: 4. Is this made in China?

A: Yes it is made in China.

Q: 5. Are there recommended compatible lens hoods available for this?

A: Thomas,I am not sure what you mean by lens hood. If you mean the attachment to prevent glare, it came with my lens in the box. Istvan

Q: 6. How much does this lens weigh?

A: The FUJIFILM XF 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens weighs 1.08 lb / 490 g.

Q: 7. Would this lens (XF 18-135 mm) be too heavy for the Fujifilm X-T10 camera?

A: HI Rita, I am a professional photographer and demand hi-quality images.I bought this lens for my X-Pro 1 which I converted to IR only. So, I purchased a lightweight X-E2 with the great Kit lens for travel. when I mounted the 18-135 lens, it felt a bit heavy. But after seeing the hi quality images from this lens, I use it all the time and don't notice the weight any longer. this is a wonderful lens. and when you add the incredible 10-24 wide zoom, you can shoot anything with these two lenses.I hope this helps.

Q: 8. Would be good lens for x-t50?

A: Yes! The FUJIFILM XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens would be a great all-in-one lens for the FUJIFILM X-T50 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 9. Will this lens perform well with the x-H2s?

A: Yes the Fuji 18-135 is a good lens that will work well with the x-H2s if you want a lens that will work for a range of focal lengths however this is not the best lens if you do a lot of low light work. For better low light performance you would want a 2.8 lens or better - but a 2.8 lens will not have the same amount of focal length range.

Q: 10. Does this lens have an aperture ring like other X-series lenses? I don't see one in the single view provided.

A: Yes, and No! it has the ring, but it is not marked with the f-stops. you have to look through the view finder or back screen to see what f-stop you are on. don't know why Fuji did not indicate the f-stops on my zooms. it's only on my 90mm f-2 prime.

As you have likely read in other reviews by now, the XF 18-135 is an extremely versatile lens and one that I take along on all my vacations, and even business trips where I know I'm going to have some time for photography. For what it is, it's lightweight and compact, and fits nicely inside my travel/work backpack. Because of the focal range that it covers, it makes packing other, more narrow ranges unnecessary. If I have a bit more room, I may also pack my Fuji X-70 or Fuji X100F for subtle street and evening photography. Or you can pack a 23mm prime and you'll be a ready for anything.

I have taken my Fuji X-T1 and X-T2 all over the world, from Alaska to Russia and China.  I have been amazed by the range of the lens; from wide to mid-tele.  And the lens is tack-sharp.  You can buy more lenses (I also have a 10-24), but really this is all you need.

This is probably Fuji's most versatile lens. It's a bit heavy, but the build quality is very high. The OIS makes a slight hissing sound, but you can really only hear it in a quite room and if you lean in close. If you only want to take one lens out with you, this is a pretty good choice.

I haven't had the camera long enough to make a final judgement but so far seems like a very sharp lens with a wide range that fits my needs most of the time, especially promises to be useful in travel. 100% crops maintain sharpness and I expect that blow ups will be great with some usual Photoshop tweaking. Im looking forward to low light testing which I haven't done yet.

I've been shooting with the Fujifilm X system ever since the X-Pro1 came out, but had been a Canon L Series lens user going back to my early Canon DSLR days, and a Leica user before that. These days most of my work is with an X-Pro2. I have a fair number of Fujifilm primes as well as several zooms. For walking around, I used to rely on the Fujifilm XF 18-55 zoom. I always felt this was several cuts above the normal kit lens one associates with entry-level DSLRs, better built, and more consistent in performance across the zoom range than a plastic-bodied kit lens. With all that said, after an intensive period of use, I've come to feel that the XF 18-135 zoom easily surpasses the XF 18-55 both in terms of optical resolution and in-hand usefulness. It's obviously larger and heavier than the 18-55, but optically it easily out-performs the sample of the 18-55 in my collection. Resolution is outstanding and noticeably better than the 18-55. Correction seems excellent. THE OIS is every bit as good as the 18-55 and certainly serves to compensate partially for the optical slowness of the non-constant-aperture design of the lens. That said, in outdoor daylight use the speed of the 18-135 is a non-issue, even at the low ISOs I usually work with. It comes down to this: with the 18-55 I usually ended carrying several additional lenses, usually at least a couple of primes, and sometimes the 55-200, just to be certain I'd be ready for something unforeseen. With the 18-135 I've quickly found that unless there's something I know I'm going to do outside of its considerable range, the need to carry additional lenses in a typical walking around scenario has been eliminated. So even though it's not a small and light package in hand, I end up carrying less in total. The size and weight of the 18-135 are more than compensated for by its range and by its excellent optical performance.

Fast, accurate, and silent auto focus with good image quality. The OIS works well. The zoom offers a good focal length range and I like the WR build quality.

I have been asked to write a review on my new 18-135 Fuji Lens. I must admit I just got this lens and due to my very busy "day job" I have not yet had the opportunity to use this lens. However, due to 4 other Fuji lenses in my arsenal, I fully expect this lens to perform as well as all my other Fuji lenses.
