Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Ds Lens For Micro Four Thirds Mount

$1,309.32 $1,689.02

Utilizing a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Micro Four Thirds Mount and features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share a common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses. To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens.

This 35mm lens produces a 33.4° angle-of-view when used on a camera with a four-thirds sized sensor and MFT mount. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations, with a minimum focus distance of just under 12" from the lens. A removable petal-shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, the lens' threaded front accepts a 77mm filter ring.

Please note that some cameras may require that Shutter Lock be disengaged when using this lens.

Ultra Multi Coated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color-matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.

Industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series shares common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be re-positioned.

"Declicked" aperture ring for smooth iris pulls.

A minimum focusing distance of 12" allows you to get up close to your subject.

A removable petal-type lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

The lens opens up to T1.5, providing the capability for low-light shooting or creating extremely shallow depth of field.

Q: 1. Will this be compatible with the canon t5i ?

A: Answer to this and every other will it fit my camera question: if you have a Canon SLR (even late model film model) this lens will work. Period. Yes to the 70D, 60D, 50D, 40D, every Rebel (T2i etc) body, your 1D, 5D, 7D, mark I through mark infinity). If your camera has a EF mount it will work (and Canon has been using EF on all of their SLR cameras since the EIGHTIES)!

Q: 2. Do the Rokinon Cine lenses include image stabilization?

A: No they do not

Q: 3. Planning to use this on Canon 5D Mark IV, for those of you shooting video with this lens, how happy are you with it's performance?

Q: 4. Would this lens fit Canon 70D mount?

A: Answer to this and every other will it fit my camera question: if you have a Canon SLR (even late model film model) this lens will work. Period. Q: 5. Comparing the specs of this lens and the Rokinon 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC Lens, is there much difference between the two other than their minimum focusing distance? I.e. What's the reason for this lens being close to $200 more expensive than its AS IF sibling? Cheers.

A: Samyang is a South Korean manufacturer that makes the Samyang, Rokinon, Bower and other lens lines. Generally, all the lenses can be counted on having very good quality at very affordable prices. The Rokinon DS (Dual Side focus markings) is the top of line of their small cine lenses. (This is not counting their Xeen line of cinema lenses.) Besides the dual side markings, the coatings on the lenses in the DS line are matched for ease in color grading. If you feel you need these features you can purchase them and possibly retain greater resale value. If not, you can save.

Q: 6. What is the difference between the AS UMC and the DSX lines?

A: The difference between the Rokinon AS UMC DS series and the Rokinon DSX series is that the Rokinon DSX series has weather sealing and a 9 blade iris. The Rokinon AS UMC DS series does not have weather sealing and has only an 8 blade iris.

Q: 7. What's the difference between this one to the Sanyang 50? Because the price is 150 high

A: Rokinon has two versions of most of the line of Cinema Lenses, with the slightly higher end version being the DS. Most of the DS lenses have an extra blade or two in the iris providing a better bokeh, and focus markings on both sides of the lens. Some of the Rokinon DS series lenses have more differences, but they are the same product as Sanyang, you are just looking at two different series from the same brand.

Q: 8. What is the image circle?

A: The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens will cover Full Frame sensors.

Q: 9. How will this work with a blackmagic pocket cinema 4K?

A: The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds (B&H# RO5015M43) may be used with a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (B&H# BL4KPKCAM): https://bhpho.to/2Hjgn8q The resultant focal length will be that of a mild telephoto lens. That's typically considered ideal for headshots and the like. The effect is to slightly flatten an image, and the result is generally considered to beautify people.

Q: 10. what size hoya filter does this lens require?

A: Filter size is 77mm

I have a number of EF-S lenses for my Canon C100 and recently got this lens for my kit. What a difference. It would be far too lengthy of a post for me to tell you everything I love about it, but I'll just say that if you are considering a less expensive Cine lens, this should be the one you get.

I went into the store and was going to purchase a different Rokinon 50mm. It was specifically for micro four thirds cameras. But I also had my eye on this one. The difference was the price range, but I went with the more expensive choice based on it recommendation and quality, and don't regret it at all! I want to get the Rokinon Cine lens series soon.

Using on an A7 III, as a higher end webcam. Mostly used wide open, or at 2.0, find it is easy to focus, image is sharp, really nice bokeh, with my background about 3 feet behind me. Certainly outperforms the Sony SEL 28/70 3.5 kit lens! Feels solid, well built, little vignetting and edge distortion, but that can be fixed via aperture adjustments. Worth the price!

I do a lot of run & gun shooting and like to operate as light as possible, but need something that still provides the cinema-quality results. I used to achieve this by switching in and out a variety of new and vintage lenses, but I can do pretty much everything I need for the documentary films I work on with this one lens and a drone.

Works a treat. Used the 50mm recently with my FS700 capturing to an Atomos Shogun (see sample image from the shoot). I also own the 24mm, 35mm and the 85mm versions. For the money, you just can't go wrong in my humble opinion.

This lens is a great starter along with my 135mm for starting out my filmmaking work. I’m so new to the craft that these two focal lengths are perfect for keeping it simple. Rokinon gives me what I need!

This lens has great versatility and if you're going to buy just one lens to start with, this is the one to get! The focus is sharp and very user-friendly, especially if this is your first time working with a film camera! I couldn't be happier.
