Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used to input audio to an iPhone 14?

A: The TASCAM DR-60DmkII 4-Input / 4-Track Multitrack Field Recorder's direct output could technically be connected to an iPhone 14 by using a 3.5mm TRS to TRRS adapter cable and a 3.5mm TRRS to Lightning adapter.

Q: 2. Will this adapter work with the Tilta full cage mount installed?

A: The Insta360 3.5mm Mic Adapter with Charging Input for ONE X2 is not listed as compatible with any cage.

Q: 3. What kind of screw or bracket would I use to attach the Tascam to an accessory cage like the Dot Line GearBox 2? I've seen pictures where people have attached it, but I can't find the appropriate bracket.

A: The bottom of the DR-60DMKII has a 1/4-20 thread socket, just as a camera has. You just need a 1/4-20 stud to screw into the cheese-plate holes on the GearBox 2.

Q: 4. Does this provide plug-in power to microphones?

A: We can find no support that the Insta360 3.5mm Mic Adapter with Charging Input for ONE X2 provides plug in power for a microphone.

Q: 5. Will this adapter also work in the Insta 360 One R Model, I am trying to get a Saramonic SR-XM1 with TRS pole to work in my Insta 360 One r ?

A: Unfortunately no. The Insta360 3.5mm Mic Adapter with Charging Input for ONE X2 will only work as a mic adapter for the ONE X2.

Q: 6. I need to connect Rode NT1 with phantom power and a dynamic mic that doesn't require phantom. Can I connect both to xlr inputs? Would this harm the dynamic mic?

A: yes, you can connect dynamic microphone to XLR with phantom power. I have don it without any problem.

Q: 7. What is this generally used for?

A: The Tascam DR-60DmkII 4-Input / 4-Track Multitrack Field Recorder BH #TADR60DMKII is highly recommended for Filmmaking, TV, and Web Broadcast. It could also be used for HOW applications , meetings and most general recording applications.

Q: 8. Is the 3.5mm TRS or TRRS?

A: The Insta360 3.5mm Mic Adapter with Charging Input for ONE X2 is for TRS. It is not listed for TRRS.

Q: 9. Hi, what is the differrence between this devices and others like beachtek dxa-micro pro, I know that this device records audio, I mean in respect to provide profesional audio to dslr. Thanks

A: The difference between this recorder and a unit like the Beachtek or similar would be the ability to record. The Beacktek units only offer the preamps. The recording will still occur on the DSLR and will ultimately still pass through the DSLR electronics and not sufficient for most professional applications.

Q: 10. What are the speed requirements for SD/SDHC cards when recording all four channels at the highest quality settings?

A: Any class 10 SDHC card from a quality manufacturer like SanDisk, Delkin, Lexar, SONY Trancend, etc. will provide enough speed for any recording mode on this recorder.

This recorder is amazing for what I've used it for. This is my first recorder paired with a RODE NTG2 and the sound quality is unbelievably better than what I'm used to. Being only familiar with the on camera mics in before this purchase, you can definitely tell the difference when using the DR-60mkII. While I have never used it beneath the camera like it is set up for, I have placed it on tripods for studio style recording, and I have placed straps on it for sound recordists to use. Overall, a great intro into sound quality above and beyond the camera mic.

The dual mono feature is great. I can record the same signal to 2 different tracks and set the levels independently ? the idea being to set a second track lower than the first incase something overmodulates.

I have used the TASCAM recorder mounted onto a Manfrotto 244 arm WITHOUT the camera mounted on top of the device. To me, mounting the DSLR on top seems awkward. Moreover, having the audio and video devices on SEPARATE stands/mounts allows for ultimate stability. The first time I used the device, I found the menu system easy to navigate. I completed my first audio recording within a few minutes of unboxing. When checking out the audio recording (using a RODE NT5 mic) on my computer, I was pleased with the results. A neutral and natural sound to the voice. There was just a little bit of floor noise that was easily reduced in Adobe Audition. My only problem was kind of dumb on my part. I couldn't figure out how to open the rubber door to insert a memory card. The manual did not make it clear that the rubber door for the memory card is NOT separate from the second rubber door for the USB port. I kept on trying to open the top door as if it were separate - eventually, I just pulled on the bottom rubber door and then discovered that there really is only ONE door. This was a mild frustration.

despite using a few adapters going from 3.5mm to xlr. i had zero system noise. been waiting a long time for a recorder that had it all yer affordable. This little gem is just wonderful. Just nice clean audio and four channels to boot. Its functionality is amazing. its rare that i get what i paid for, let alone more than what i paid for. This thing is precisely that!

Considering the price point on this gem, it is an amazing tool for the low to mid-level DSLR videographer. The features make it so flexible. Sound quality is very good, assuming equivalent quality microphones. It takes a bit of time to get working comfortably with it, but after only two interview shoots, I am comfortable and confident in my workflow. I am still amazed that this is under $200! Two of my favorite features are the slate function and dual recording for safety take at lower levels. Speaking of levels, the little spike mark is at -12db, which takes a bit of getting used to. Levels came in a bit low on the first session as I assumed it was -3db. Just need to have confidence now. Battery life is not great but with USB power option it is not a huge deal now.
