Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. For those of us that use the highest end XLR cables. Is removing and replacing the included and preinstalled XLR cable difficult?

A: It is not very difficult to replace the cable, but you might want to consider an uncabled arm like the Blue Compass that is designed to use your own cable, and has a channel to keep things neat. You can also easily adjust the tension on the hinges. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1385876-REG/blue_compass_desktop_boom_arm.html

Q: 2. Is there a manual control for audio gain up or down on the DSLR mini 1/8 output?

A: The Tascam DR-70D does not feature an output level control knob for adjustment. In order to adjust level going into your camera, you will have to access this feature from the menu.

Q: 3. All this does is stand straight up how do I adjust the tension?

A: The weight of the microphone is enough to prevent it from standing straight up. This works with most mics but it is possible you are using a mic that is too light for the arm.

Q: 4. How does this unit's preamp compare to a Sound Devices MM-1, Mix Pre-d or 302?

A: Preamps are great. No difference between them and the preamps on my Soundcraft and Mackie boards./

Q: 5. Is the line out to camera a stereo or mono signal?

A: The Tascam DR-70D features a 3.5mm stereo camera output. The unit is capable of outputting stereo or a dual mono signal to the camera.

Q: 6. What is the adapter connected to the Podmic in the first photo?

A: That is an included threaded stud to connect to the microphone' holder.

Q: 7. What's the best setting for DB levels on the line out to A7siii camera. If I set the tascam to +12 then it looks like camera can be at a volume setting of 3. Since the camera preamps are probably worse than the Tascam wouldn't this be best. I read elsewhere to set the Tascam so the camera ends up @ 8. What do you guys think?

A: We recommend using a level matching cable to pad the line level output signal from the Tascam DR-70D so it will provide a compatible signal level that will not overload the camera's mic input. The Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras (B&H # SEL2MZH4N) will provide a -25 dB pad for the 70D's line level output and the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON) works in the same way and also includes a headphone tap.

Q: 8. Would this work with the hyper x quadcast s mic? I mean as far as being able to hold it good enough as it is a very heavy microphone

A: Yes, the O.C. White Podcast Pro Mic Boom Package by Accu-Lite is compatible for use with the HyperX QuadCast S USB Condenser Microphone. The boom arm can support a loud of 1.4 to 2.5 pounds and the microphone weighs 1.6 pounds.

Q: 9. Can anyone explain this to me please?Frequency response20-20kHz +0.5/-2dB(LINE IN or MIC IN to LINE OUT, Fs44.1k/48k Hz, JEITA)20-40kHz +0.5/-3dB(LINE IN or MIC IN to LINE OUT, Fs96kHz, JEITA)

A: The frequency responses listed are based on different sampling rates with different measurement variables to offer the most honest ratings.

Q: 10. How wide does the clamp open up to?

A: This clamp is for a 1.5-inch thick desktop, but can open up to almost 2-inches.
