Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to record the M and S mics on separate channels for matrixing in post? Can you do this with the Q8? Thanks in advance.

A: There is an option to either enable or disable the mid-side matrix. If you disable it and you record in MOV+WAV format, one of the WAV channels will be the shotgun mic and the other will be the side mic. Please note side is a single source in a figure-8 pattern, not two different sources (left and right side). If you are going to do post-processing and want to control the ambient sound in the mix, definitely disable the matrix. It is quite straightforward then to mix in the ambient sound in post production. You may have to split the stereo WAV file, depending on what DAW you are using.

Q: 2. why do we need this, if the camera has built in wifi?

A: This boosts the effectiveness of the built-in WiFi by adding a wired ethernet port, as well as faster connectivity. The range of use is also increased to 656 feet.

Q: 3. Can this be used with Nikon flashs?

A: No, it only works with, AirTTL: A1 AirTTL, B10 250 AirTTL, B1X 500 AirTTL, B2 250 AirTTL, D2 500 AirTTL, D2 1000 AirTTL, Pro-10 2400 AirTTL, and B1 500 AirTTL Air without TTL or HSS: D1 Air 250, D1 Air 500, D1 Air 1000, D4 1200 Air, D4 2400 Air, D4 4800 Air, Pro-B4 1000 Air, Pro-8a 1200, and Pro-8a 2400

Q: 4. Will this mic fit in the skb 1209 case? I read here that it won't due to its longer length compared to the other model shotgun mic

A: The SKB iSeries Waterproof Case for Zoom H6 Recorder and Mic Modules available on our site is customized to fit the Zoom SGH-6 Shotgun Microphone which is slightly smaller than the Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the 100 g3 if not is there a dual Sennheiser receiver that is?

A: No, the Sennheiser EM-XSW 1 Dual-Channel Stationary Receiver is not compatible for use with Sennheiser EW 100 G3 Series Transmitters. Sennheiser does not offer a dual-channel 100 Series Receiver but two of the single-channel Sennheiser EM 100 G4 Wireless Receivers can be used at the same time and can be mounted side-by side in a single rack space. The EM-XSW 1 Receiver can be used with XS Series transmitters like the Sennheiser SK-XSW-A Bodypack Transmitter - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SESKXSWA) or handheld transmitters like the Sennheiser SKM 825-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e825 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz B&H # SESKM825XSWA), SKM 835-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e835 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz( B&H # SESKM835XSWA, or SKM 865-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e865 Capsule - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SESKM865XSWA). A combination of any two of the Sennheiser XS Series Transmitters can be used simultaneously with the EM-XSW 1 Receiver.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the D800?

A: This product is not compatible with the Nikon D800.

Q: 7. I have the zoom h6, and my question is which h6 accessory microphones are best for for recording:-acoustic classical nylon string guitar in a studio.-nature and animal sounds/sampling.-live music performance as a spectator in the audience... outdoor or indoor. Also, I get confused on the purpose of the ssh-6 vs sgh-6.

A: I got an SS6-6 (to attach to Q8 on head of guitar. Two women have walked up to tell me how cooland high-tech it looks:)I've ended up using it more to capture live eventsrather than aimed at myself/guitar (which really requiressome other mics mixed in for good studio sound.THE BENEFIT of an SSH-6 (I think) is that live soundis a mix of direct, reflective AND audience sounds, and it tends to capture that well. (If I was doing interviewsI'd want an SGH-6, but I'm basing that on quick reading)FOR CLASSIC GUITAR I have no insights, AND all I've written here is based on a little experience with the SSH-6 on a Q8... and my surprise at it's utility in capturing a live event sound that isn't the usual mushy distortion.

Q: 8. Does this mic record to three tracks; the mid to one, and the stereo side to two? If not, how would one go about mixing dialogue with ambient sound in post?

A: It is only 2 tracks. The mono mic will pick up the dialog as any shotgun would straight ahead. Then the desired amount of side can be mixed in accordingly.

Q: 9. The Z6 doesn’t allow simultaneous HDMI and Snapbridge control. Does this allow you to record video via HDMI while controlling the camera via Camera Control Pro 2?

A: We have not found that ability for the camera with Camera Control Pro 2.

Q: 10. Is this unit compatible when using the MB D-17 battery grip ?

A: You wouldn't be able to use both the WT-7A and the MBD-17 together.
