ClientMatch technology automatically detects and classifies mobile devices with common characteristics, groups these devices, and matches them with APs and radios to optimize the performance of the network

OFDMA increases user data rates and reduces latency, especially for large numbers of devices with short frames or low data rate requirements

Multi-User, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) improves network capacity by allowing multiple devices to transmit simultaneously

GreenAP allows access point to draw less power when it's not being used, such as evenings when the buildings are empty

Runs on ArubaOS 8 which delivers always-on networking via features like LiveUpgrade, Controller Clustering, and seamless fail-over

ArubaOS 8 also includes AirMatch, which provides machine learning technology to automatically optimize the performance of a wireless network by tuning the radio frequencies of the access points

Power saving options with Target Wake Time (TWT) to save battery life

Integrated Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee radio, as well as USB ports for maximum flexibility, providing secure and reliable connectivity for IoT devices and for implementing location services

Unified AP supports flexibility to deploy in either controller-based (ArubaOS) or controller-less (InstantOS) networks

Antenna polarization diversity for optimized RF performance

HPE SmartRate uplink Ethernet port

Advanced Cellular Coexistence (ACC) minimizes interference from 3G/4G cellular networks, distributed antenna systems, and commercial small cell/femtocell equipment

Supports priority handling and policy enforcement or unified communication apps, including Skype for business with encrypted video conferencing, voice, chat, and desktop sharing

Aruba AppRF technology leverages deep packet inspection to classify and block, prioritize, or limit bandwidth for thousands of applications in a range of categories

Adaptive Radio management (ARM) technology provides airtime fairness and ensures that APs stay clear of all sources of RF interference to deliver reliable, high-performance WLANs

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for secure storage of credentials and keys as well as secure boot

Integrated wireless intrusion protection offers threat protection and mitigation, and eliminates the need for separate RF sensors and security appliances

IP reputation and security services identify, classify, and block malicious files, URLs, and IPs providing comprehensive protection against online threats

Securejack-capable for secure tunneling of wired Ethernet traffic

Intelligent Power Monitoring (IPM) when the unit is powered by a PoE source

Deployment options include controller-based mode, controller-less mode, remote AP mode, air monitor, spectrum analyzer, and secure enterprise mesh portal or point

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come in black?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks Quad-Radio 802.11ac Wave 2 Access Point with Dedicated Security & Beamforming Antenna (White) is not currently available in black.

Q: 2. Can I use this device as a repeater and plug a switch into it for wired devices?

A: Ive used the UAP AC Pros to do this. I dont see why it couldnt be done with the M.

Q: 3. Will these work with a UAP AC? Also do i need one UAP AC on each end one to receive the signal and one to send?

A: This would be a mesh access point. The number of units would be heavily dependent on the use case scenario.

Q: 4. I would like to mount one on my back porch to provide wifi to my boat dock. The dock is about 300 feet away from the where I would mount the AP. Is this too far? It says 600 feet. I just didn't know if that was accurate.

A: Roughly 600' ft. is accurate.

Q: 5. I want to install a ubiquity mesh ap system that will be attached to a local IP that is radio frequency transmitted internet service. Can I use a Unifi M AP and attach via cat5 to \a switch inside a steel wall building to supply internet service to the inside of the building from the unifi mesh ap?

A: Yes but you should use a separate antenna/receiver to supply the network feed to the switch which would then be routed to feed to your mesh APs.

Q: 6. HiMay i use this AP to cover a campus with 150m x 100m?

A: Good day This AP as cabapabities of creating a mesh system that works really good from my experiece. However your question can't be answered with so little information. Please post an aerial photo or building outline showing the areas to be served and the kinds of users expected in those areas, this can be done at ubnt community forum someone will chime in and assist with suggestion. Also I want to mention this kind of job requiresskills in WiFi, RF and networking. If you don'thave those skills, find a competent consultant or company to assist.Regards

Q: 7. Is this weather proof? I'm looking to install these on brick outside with no cover and the Mesh Pro is overkill for this installation.

A: Yes, Weather-Resistant Enclosure

Q: 8. Is this unit for outside use?

A: No the Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-IW-US UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System is intended for indoors only.

Q: 9. How do you get the Gigabit PoE that shows in the Quick start menu?

A: The device is native 10/100/1000 auto sense and supports POE. The speed of your POE equipment is dependent on that equipment throughput. You can use a POE Switch or POE injector the MESH unit will work on either. :)

Q: 10. I am not able to mount anything on my ceiling and would have to mount to a wall. Would this produce better coverage than a Unifi UAP-AC-Pro mounted on a wall? Thanks!

A: While it is impossible to say with 100% certainty, since that will depend in a lot of outside factors, the UAP-AC-M-US does have a higher range rating than the UAP AC PRO. Real world results will vary depending on where you install it, building materials and layout, wireless interference in the area and the rest of your network components. The only real way to know for sure is to test it out. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach pc@bhphotovideo.com.
