Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can these mics be used with a Canon XA-20 or a Canon HF-G30? Are there different adapters needed for each?

A: Yes, the Rode Wireless GO II Microphone System can be used with the Canon XA20 and Canon HF-G30 Cameras. The Wireless GO II comes with a 3.5mm TRS male to 3.5mm TRS male cable that can be used to connect the receiver directly to the 3.5mm mic input on the HF-G30. Since the XA20 has XLR inputs, you can use a cable like the Kopul Stereo Right-Angle 1/8" Male Mini-Jack to XLR Male Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KORSMXM015).

Q: 2. Are the batteries in the transmitter and receiver replaceable? Thanks for any information.

A: This is a sealed system, they are not replacable.

Q: 3. Does the built-in recording capability of the Rode transmitter make a separate digital audio recorder (such as Zoom) unnecessary, at least for less frequent/demanding work?

A: The built-in recording function is certainly useful, but it is usually preferable to have all recordings made on one device when possible for convenience and the ability to have tracks synced more easily.

Q: 4. Will it work with Canon R5?

A: Yes, the Rode wireless go II system will connect via 3.5mm jack to the Canon R5 system.

Q: 5. Does the two transmitter bundle come with only one TRS to XLR cable? If so are they sold separately?

A: No, the Godex WMicS1 Kit includes two receiver output cables -- one is 3.5mm TRS to XLR and the other is 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS. Cables are available to purchase separately if you need a spare or replacement.

Q: 6. Are the microphones in the set dynamic or condenser?

A: The included lavalier microphones are condenser styles that use plug-in power from the transmitter for operation..

Q: 7. Does this kit output stereo (opposed to summed mono) from the receiver to the camera?

A: If you are using both transmitters one will be send of the left side the other will run the right side and both will combine and give you one stereo track into your camera

Q: 8. Does the receiver mount to a camera hot shoe?

A: The Rode Wireless GO II receiver does not have the ability to interface with a hot shoe, but its clip is the correct size and shape to slot into a standard shoe mount for mounting purposes only.

Q: 9. Wil it work with a Sennheiser ME 4 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector ? Will it provide voltage ?

A: The input on the Rode Wireless GO II transmitter is standard 3.5mm TRS non-locking connector. The transmitter will supply the appropriate voltage (plug-in power) that the mic requires to function. However, the Sennheiser ME 4 uses a 3.5mm TRS locking connector which may not attach properly to the transmitter since its input is not threaded like those on Sennheiser wireless transmitters and the mic's locking ring has no thread to lock onto.

Q: 10. Does this mic combo require use of a Sennheiser app for recording, or will it work with Filmic, the camera app, voice recorder, etc?

A: The free Rode Control app is required to use Rode's built-in features that allow you to record audio directly onto the Wireless Go II transmitters and to adjust the settings for the recorded files. But you can use the Wireless Go II as a standard wireless mic system to record the audio onto another device like a smartphone with the camera app, voice recorder, or Filmic app.
