A: I am sure you are rotating in the incorrect direction. You are used to mounting the lens in clockwise direction. In case of Nikon you need you unmount the lens by actually rotating in the clockwise direction. From Left to right.Example - You will mount a sony lens on the camera from left to rightBut in Nikon you mount the lens from right to left. So un mounting is in the opposite direction.Pull that level down closer to the lens and rotate from centre in clockwise direction.
