This pair of Bright Tangerine Drumstix 19mm Sterling Titanium Support Rods is extremely lightweight yet amazingly stiff, allowing you to add rod-mounted accessories to your rig with virtually no flex in the rods, something every owner, operator, assistant, and rental house will appreciate. Each 15" long support rod is extremely lightweight yet exhibits less flex than carbon fiber rods of the same length, and it is lighter than either steel or aluminum rods while being at least as stiff and strong. Made from titanium, the rods are corrosion resistant, and each is machined and ground flat to prevent binding as you mount accessories.

Each titanium rod is machined and ground flat to within a tolerance of 2 microns, which prevents accessories from binding when sliding on the rod. The strength, hardness, and machining tolerances of the rod eliminate the need for the time-honored tradition of spinning the support rod in the rod clamp when trying to build the camera package.

Each rod is extremely lightweight, making it well suited for use with drones or in handheld configurations.

The stiffness of each rod means you can confidently use it to support heavy lenses and matte boxes loaded with filters without worrying about the rod flexing.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the bayonet fitting just for the cap? It would be very useful to have a hood for this lens even if it was designed only for the unshifted/tilted FOV

A: Just for the cap (unless Nikon plan to come along with a hood sometime later...but I doubt it). $70 for the cap if you need a replacement -- so take care of it!

Q: 2. Am thinking of getting hold of this lens but one question. For example, from your experience, when shooting interiors, how do you minimize glare when you can't put a CPL on the lens? Appreciate you thoughts on this. And thanks in advance.

A: You can use a circular polarizer on the Nikon 19mm PC-E lens. I would recommend this Fotodiox kit: https://bhpho.to/396YnLo

Q: 3. Will this work with 114mm back stage on an Arri Matte box?

A: This Bright Tangerine 114-85mm Threaded Adapter Ring for ENG Wide Angle Lenses will attach to any 114mm matte box including Arri.

Q: 4. Does it have a rotating filter stage for polarizing filters?

A: No, it does not, however, you can rotate the matte box itself.

Q: 5. Does the Misfit Atom hold 100x100mm square filters?

A: Yes, this is compatible with 4x4" or 4x5.65 filters.

Q: 6. would this item work with the kippertie rf to ef adapta too?

A: Yes, the Bright Tangerine Kippertie Revolva/Adapta RF-to-PL Lens Adapter Support for RED KOMODO is also compatible with the Kippertie RF to EF Adapter.

Q: 7. No hood available from Nikon, is one not needed? How bad is glare and reduced contrast when key light is in front/side of camera? Note front glass bulbs out. Nano coating can only do so much, no? Any success in using flags in lieu of a hood? Or is lack of a hood not a concern with this lens?

A: There is a good reason why there are no hoods for very wide lenses; to wit, a hood that actually protects the lens from flare is also visible in the frame. My rule of thumb to make sure no light is flaring or causing ghosts on my lens is this: From moderately wide to tele lens length, I use lens hoods, or matte boxes or adjustable sunshades on the camera to block the spurious light. However, on very wide lenses, the flare has to be flagged at the light source that is causing the problem. Even outside and it is the sun hitting the lens, use a grip flag on a stand to stop the direct light of the sun. Do not have such equipment? Then have a friend hold any rectangular object so the the flare from the sun is blocked. How to know it is working? Make sure the shadow of the flag covers the front element of the lens. Nikkor lenses are among the finest in the world. The lens coatings on this lens are no less than that. You can be sure that for all but the most direct specular light rays, light hitting this lens will be flare and ghost free.

Q: 8. Do you need additional accessories to fit more than one filter?

A: You will need a different matte box to do so.

Q: 9. For architectural work do you think this 19mm or the 24mm tilt/shift is the better overall option to have on a job?

A: The 19mm is the first NIKKOR tilt-shift that allows you to rotate the angle of tilt. There are times when this can be a great advantage. I've never used the 24mm; but the 19mm can get closer and is so sharp on a 36 M-pixel body that if I must shoot from further away, I can crop the smaller image and blow it up to the desired size.

Q: 10. I frequently use graduated ND filters. If using a hard edge, are there any workarounds to raise/lower the transition line?

A: Using an adjustable level baseplate with 15mm rod adapter combined with the Bright Tangerine Lightweight Rod Bracket Type 4 for Misfit Clamp Lens Attachment and 15 LWS Rods and a rod adapter, you can raise and lower the height of the transition line on the Bright Tangerine Misfit Atom Clip-On Matte Box.

Awesome space saver. Was a little thicker than I imagined (didn't read very deep into the dimensions besides the length) but it works great with your average studio clamp. Light weight yet durable and stays snugly in place.

I m renting a small apartment, so making holes in the wall was not an option , also trying light weight backdrop stands without good results, as I Use heavy seamless paper rolls. Fortunately I found a video on YouTube about this varipole systems and I’m very happy with it !!! Thanks B&H!!!!

The title says it all. It has eliminated the headache of setting up tripod-based backdrop stands, or even the c-stand/clamp option, because once you set it up, you know it's even every single time! I use it in my apartment home studio, holding 2 painted canvas backdrops with ease. The backdrops are rolled on PVC pipe so no bowing and very sturdy. I also am really happy I got the metal chain version (instead of the colored plastic version) because it's more heavy duty and it also looks a lot cleaner with the metal look in photos.

I'm so in love with this system! It's so much sturdier than light stands, and saves me about 3-4 feet of space in total. When you have a small, narrow but long home studio, you need these poles!

I purchased these along with the Super Clamps and U-Hooks to be used as a single crossbar setup and I just can't over how perfect and stable it is. It doesn't budge!

Pros: Saves space, sturdier/safer than light stands.
Cons: Expensive, a big larger than I expected, and the lock-down handles and extension area are a bit higher than I expected but I'm a shorty (5'1) and standing on an apple box is nothing new for me. lol

I'm thinking of purchasing another set for the other side of the room. I love these things!

Simple support system that does exactly what I ask for. I use this for mounting my photo/video backdrop. It's a perfect solution and doesn't have a giant footprint like other inexpensive backdrop systems. Holds three, full rolls of Savage backdrop paper and the Impact 3 hook bracket. So far so good. I'm going to get another kit to hang above my work area and computer desk to mount a camera and light for when I'm recording how-to videos and content. Great addition to any home office space for photographers, videographers, filmmakers and content creators.

I have had these for just a short time and have had them all over the house exploring uses for them. I was hesitant to order this set over the more expensive Manfrotto brand which was just a single pole. Very glad I ordered the pair as that opens up uses and any reservations I had about lower quality is unwarranted. These things are solid.

I've been eyeing this system for awhile. I have 14 by 14 space and having tripods to hold backdrops is not only space consuming and dangerous. mounting background system on the wall isn't reliable either. it is so easy to set up and I have my entire background system right against the wall secured by these autopoles. I can even take them with me to most of my customers home. they aren't the lightest yet still manageable. I love it and can't be happier with this system. highly recommend.

This kit is the perfect solution for small spaces or areas where you don't want to damage walls or have stands taking up space. I use this for my self-tape auditions daily so the convenience of leaving them up and having different paper roll options readily available is such a time saver.
