Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many of the inputs can be recorded simultaneously are are available inside a DAW?

A: You can record up to 18 mono channels at a time.

Q: 2. Should I use Logic Pro with this? Doing a 4-mic podcast. How do I record the audio sent into it? Sorry, dumb questions.

A: The Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 USB-C Audio/MIDI Interface (3rd Generation) can certainly be used with Logic Pro, or any other DAW of your choosing. As with any software, there will be a learning curve, but with the wealth of online learning resources it should not take long to develop a basic understanding of recording functions within your chosen program.

Q: 3. Are the monitor outs balanced?

A: The Monitor Output jacks on the Scarlett 18i8 are balanced 1/4 outputs.

Q: 4. Can I use this to monitor 5.1 on a mac Premiere Pro editing station?

A: As long as you can define which channels you are using from Premiere Pro, you should be able to use the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB-C Audio/MIDI Interface (3rd Generation) for a 5.1 surround setup.

Q: 5. will this work with protools 10?

A: Yes

Q: 6. What is the improvement from the 18i8 first generation to the second generation 18i8?

A: The primary improvement is sampling up to 192k/24-bit, as opposed to the first version which topped out at 96k/24-bit. Focusrite also claims to have improved headroom on instrument input and better gain structure. Also, only the second generation works with the new Focusrite software app. I've been very happy with my second-generation 18i8 (so happy that I replaced a FastTrack Ultra 8R on my music computer with a Scarlett 18i20). If you get one, I'd recommend either having a fast computer or making sure there are a minimum of background processes running when you use. I also set the ASIO buffers quite high. Hope this helps.

Q: 7. Can the Nikon SB700 Flash be used on Panasonic DMC -FZ300?

A: Being that the pin configuration on the SB-700 is different from that of the hotshoe on the FZ300, the most you will get is manual control out of the flash.

Q: 8. Can i connect Bluetooth headphones to it ?

A: No. This interface has no bluetooth capibilities. Wired connections only.

Q: 9. Might be a dumb question but can I use this with an older ( 2012 )MacBook that uses the larger USB ports with just an adapter cable?

A: Yes this will work with your Macbook no problem The Focusrite scarlett 18i20 comes with the USB cable which is type A that will plug into your mac.

Q: 10. Bus power

A: If you are asking Does the 18i8 use USB buss power? , the answer is no, it uses a separate AC power supply.
