Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Could I use the headphone port on the receiver to send the signal to a different system?
A: The Comica Audio BoomX-U QUA Ultracompact 4-Person Wireless Microphone System has two outputs, a main Mic Output and a Headphone Output. The Mic Output is the correct type of signal for cameras, mobile devices, and recorders. The Headphone Output on the other hand is really only the correct voltage and impedance for a pair of headphones. It could be used as a line output in an emergency, but quality will be undesirable and the signal will be too hot for something expecting a microphone-level signal.
Q: 2. What is the max distance for voice recording? I'm putting actors on tape and they are QUIET. Need something that can give them their space but still pick up their whisper acting.
A: The max distance for this microphone is between 3-5 feet away, the closer the microphone is place to the subject the best the audio will sound.
Q: 3. Does it record the audio?
A: No, the Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO does not offer built-in recording.
Q: 4. Does it make sense to pair these with a 32bit-float recorder? or rather: do they transmit 32bits to the receiver so a zoom F6 would get the full dynamic range?
A: The 32bit aspect of the Zoom F6 allows for extremely high headroom while recording. This means that regardless of how high or low your audio signal being recorded is, the audio can be turned up or down after the fact to be usable. The type of audio being sent to the F6 does not impact the bit rate of the recorder. It would be a fine pairing in general.
Q: 5. I've used 4 persons simultaneously with no problem. My question is, is it 16 or 24bit?
A: The Comica Audio BOOMX-U does not have a recording function, so no analog to digital conversion occurs. As such, the bitrate of your recording would be determined by your recording device.
Q: 6. How well does it work with the iPhone camera app?
A: It works very well. I have used it to shoot a number of iPhone videos, both indoors and out and it has worked very well.
Q: 7. Can I use any mic with this like a tram, sanken, DPA?
A: Yes, it is possible to use different microphones with the Comica Audio BoomX-U QUA Ultracompact 4-Person Wireless Microphone System for Mirrorless/DSLR Cameras as long as the microphone has the appropriate 3.5mm TRS locking connector and wiring, and does not require more voltage than the transmitter is able to supply. The Tram TR-50 and Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphones that are wired for compatibility with Sennheiser transmitters should both work, and certain DPA models may also work with the Comica transmitters, depending on their voltage requirements.
Q: 8. Is it feasible to purchase two dual sets and run all four mics and two receivers at the same time without interference? If you turn on the first two mics, run the channel scan, sync, then turn on the second two mics and run the channel scan, will the second two mics be able to have enough bandwidth to find a nice freq to sit on?
A: Yes, that is possible, according to the manufacturer specifications.
Q: 9. Can the gain of each microphone be adjusted independently by the receiver?
A: Yes. : Dedicated gain buttons on the receiver allow quick and effortless adjustment of the signal level for each microphone independently.
Q: 10. Can I use this on a RØDE Wireless Go?
A: Not directly. You would need to use this with an additional adapter to make it compatible with the Go, that adapter is B&H # ROSC3.
