A: I would think so how ever I would argue with check in staff and make sure the airline takes full responsibility for damage and theft. I have seen checked bags thrown 2 -3 meters on to utes at airports in the US some landing on the tarmac on the other side of the ute. with 18kg of camera stuff inside the bag I would be supprized if any case would offer protection. I had a bag once that was completely demolished Im sure it would had to have been driven over to cause the amount of damage. So take it onboard.....

A: Hi Scott, the tip of handle measures about 16.5 above the body of the case when fully extended. When closed that handle is proud by approx 5/8 . The carry handle folds to be about 7/8 higher than the case body.
