Q: 1. Is this case big enough to hold a Nikon 300mm f4, 105mm macro lens, D7100 body, 1.7x teleconverter, plus a couple of smaller lenses? Thanks!

    A: Sure the case is big enough! I normally put inside: 300mm f2.8 - 1 Nikon D5 - 1 Nikon D800 - 16-35mm f4 - SB800 flash - 70-200 f2.8 and a 15 inch mac book Pro.

    Q: 2. Can the computer lid fit a 17.3 inch laptop? The official dimensions are 16.5 x 1.3 x 11.0.

A: I just slipped my 15 MBP into the pocket and it fits with no wiggle room on the sides. Okay maybe a 1/4 of play, but not much. I would say no, a 17 laptop will not fit.

Q: 3. Can you replace the dividers that come with the 1510SC with the TrekPak dividers instead?

A: You can replace the standard dividers of this case with the TrekPak Divider Kit for Pelican 1510 Carry-On Protector Case B&H # TRP1510CI

Q: 4. Can you remove the Laptop Lid Insert? Thinking I want it as an option, but may occasionally swap it out for the Photography's Lid.

A: The two pouches are held in place by Velcro. Just start at any corner and peal them out, then replace them with foam. I did it with mine.

    Q: 5. 1510sc or 1560sc which 1 will fit a 16inch MacBook Pro?

A: The 1560SC Protector Studio Case will fit 15"-17" laptop computers

Q: 6. Will equipment survive if this case is checked?

A: Depends on the equipment, for some larger glass lenses I wouldn't want to put in one of these cases it was being thrown around that's for sure. Camera bodies some lights with some extra packing material in there . Should be good but you won't want to do it every time!

Q: 7. Can you fit a 400mm f/2.8 AND a 200mm f/2 (Canon in case it matters) in this glorious Fort Knox of a case? Is there room to spare? Thanks!

A: You would want to go with the Pelican 1560 case instead.

Q: 8. Will it hold a MAC Pro tower?

A: Hi,I do not have the dimensions of the Mac Pro Tower in mind (it should be easy to check and compare with inner dimensions of the case) but at first glance I would say no. This (wonderful) case is cabin-size and I would guess the tower is similar to a PC desktop tower. In any cases I strongly recommend the case to carry fragile / high-tech gear. As a carry-on luggage, be careful with the weight of the basic model as it is quite heavy (there is a recent lighter version).Hope it helps.Marc

Q: 9. Which cases will hold a mac laptop?

A: This case will hold up to a 15 MacBook Laptop just fine. It would not fit a 17 though.

Q: 10. What Sony cage is this compatible with?

A: The Sony Cable Protector for Sony DSC-RX0M2, DSC-RX100M7 & DSC-RX100M7G will work with various cages with 1/4"-20 female mounts meant for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX0 II Digital Camera and DSC-RX100 VII cameras.

Always pleased with Pelican products as i travel alot. Had a couple of latches bust on me cause of the airlines (go figure) and called pelican and shipped me new latches no questions asked. This case Is nice very nice quality saw cheaper cases but not near as nice worth the extra coin. B&H was very prompt and answered emails very quickly.

Great case. I can cram everything I need for my camera set up and accessories and cuts down on the number of other cases I need going out into the field. Dividers are essential.

I am a traveling photographer and that means being able to transport my gear safely and stress free. When I first started I used paded dividers in a sturdy suitcase and now I've upgraded to the pelican. It honestly is life changing for the traveling photographer and it's the best investment I've made this year. I have used pelican cases for years and they work the same as the first day I bought them. Extremely durable and rugged proof. So I finally decided to get one on wheels. Which is also a bonus because it takes all the weight off your shoulders and back and makes walking across the airport a delight. If your considering this, it's a must.

I often take photos at horse shows. This means sand, sawdust, dirt, dust, and, sometimes rain. Pelican cases, this one included, seem to be excellent protection against these elements. This case, the 1510SC, turns out to be a great organizer for the equipment I bring on-site. Typically, I might bring: - a Nikon D4s with a Nikkor 70-200 2.8 lens, - a 13 inch laptop for showing clients their photos - a portable backup disk - a case of spare CF memory chips, - two other lenses for taking fun photos. - cables, battery chargers, etc. - cleaning supplies - a tin of silicon desiccant to keep the contents dry. There is plenty of room for everything it is all well protected. I wouldn't throw it off a truck but for any amount of reasonable jostling about, all is ok. It fits in the overhead on a plane and the dolly makes it easy to drag it around the airport. On site, I encounter deep sand and dirt. I don't worry about the equipment but the dolly is useless in this circumstance. That is not a negative; the wheels on the dolly would have to be about 10 in diameter to keep it from getting mired in the sand. And 10 wheels would not work elsewhere :) So I carry it on site. It is heavy. You need to be sure to eat a good breakfast :) I have been told I can remove the dolly; that would remove a couple or three pounds. I have not tried this yet. This is a very good product. It works well for an application like mine. I recommend it highly.

I put off getting a Pelican case since I thought it was overkill. Until my lenses started growing midlew. I live in a humid coastal area. I have tons of camera bags, but none that will hold everything. The 1510SC works great. I can fit: 2 Canon 5D m3, the 2.8 70-200 with lens hood, 5 more L lenses, a 15mm fisheye and nifty 50mm. (8 lenses in all.) Plus my 15 macbook pro, all of the lens hoods and assesories. I put the whole thing in the back of my SUV with a thick braided cable through the handle of the case and through a connector in the car. I can put locks through the lid and the case is extremely secure. Bought the Pelican silica gel which is reusable. When I travel I can take it carry on and in the hotel I can use the same cable to secure it. The case has simplified what had become a complicated siutation. This is all in addition to being rugged and watertight and all of the other stuff that comes with having a Pelican case. Will probably buy another one for the audio gear and another for the video gear.

I did a tally of all the equipment I have and how much it costs. I quickly realized that buying this case to protect it all during transport would be cheap insurance. This unit is really well built and strong. I tried standing on it to see if I could use it as a step stool when using my tripod above eye level. Well, it held all of my 190 lbs. without complaint. Now I don't plan to do this very often but it is nice to know that I could do in in a pinch. Most often, I will use it for storing my equipment. The dividers are nice and the extra pouches in the lid for laptop and accessories are what sold me on this model. As many have indicated, the laptop case is designed for the largest of the 15 inch laptops, so my Dell laptop fits perfectly. If you had a thinner laptop then perhaps you would have some extra room. Since laptop thickness varies, I think Pelican may the best decision they could be making it big enough for chunky laptops like mine. As far as looks go, it is industrial looking, and that is fine with me. When traveling, someone may surmise that something important is locked away in the case, but they would have no idea that it would be camera equipment inside. So, there is no reason to think you have to disguise this case to thwart potential thieves. And buy the Pelican TSA locks two of them. They are very nice and easy to use.

I have had a large Pelican case for 14 years and it still keeps rockin. So when I got my DSLR package I wanted something more compact and that I could get on the plane and of coarse Pelican had the 1510. Everything I need fits. It's a bit snug in places but nothing jumbles around inside thats for sure. I cant get my 70-200mm soft case to fit when fully loaded, but thats a minor inconvenience. Happy consumer as far as this and all Pelican products.
