Designed for low-level lighting, the chrome-plated steel Short Low Mighty Stand from Kupo has a combination 1 1/8" junior receiver with a 5/8" baby pin. It rises to heights up to 39.8" and features a leveling leg for use on uneven ground.

A Short Low Mighty Stand allows technicians to rig large and small light fixtures and modifiers, offering maximum strength at a minimal height. Though fully constructed from heavy-duty chrome-plated steel, the stand is still compact and collapsible for simplified organization and transport. The major components of the Short Low Mighty Stand are assembled using a nut-and-bolt system to make maintenance effective and hassle-free, thus enhancing the effective lifespan of the stand. One of the three legs is constructed in the Rocky Mountain style, allowing one to balance heavy loads on uneven ground or around obstacles.

This robust support system carries a center column with working heights between 25.4 and 39.8". At the top of the second of two risers sits a combo stand-style head to accept an expansive range of fixtures and modifiers. A 1 1/8" receiver holds larger fixtures weighing up to 33 lb. For smaller payloads, a 5/8" baby pin pops out of the combination head either vertically or horizontally to maximize one's mounting options. When the baby pin is oriented in its lateral position, the 5/8" receiver can be accessed for rigging flags and other accessories.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these air-cushioned or spring loaded stands?

A: Unfortunately, this stand is not air cushioned nor spring loaded on its risers.

Q: 2. How long is each leg from the base to the wheel?

A: Each leg is about 14.5" inches.

Q: 3. What is the diameter of the bottom column?

A: The bottom riser diameter on the Matthews Low Boy Double Riser Combo Stand (Black Powder Coat, 6.4') is 1.75 inches.

Q: 4. When using for light gear, can the legs be pulled in a bit more to say 30" footprint?

A: The wheels will only function when opened to its fullest.

Q: 5. How low will this allow a soft box to go? I need something to hold my soft box down low on the ground for newborn photography.

A: This stand probably will not work for that. The pin is about 34 at it's lowest. Take a look at the sliding arm stand. Manfrotto 231 Column Stand with Sliding Arm I have two of them with an extra arm each to hold two lights and they will allow you to put your soft box right down on the floor or up to 8'

Q: 6. i am going to use this with a D600 mini boom (6 pounds)with a 10 pound counterweight.if i add a head and a beauty dish i am almost at maximum capacity...adding a 10 lb sandbag on the base...this really pushes me over the edge weightless...should I have gotten the roller 34 instead?

A: I use this with the mini boom and I mount my Eistein 600 with an 86 umbrella....although I have not fully extended the boom, I didn't need a counter weight on the boom itself, although I did add one to be safe. I did use a 15 pound sand bag on the base. I feel, as long as you boom out over a stand leg you will be fine. Obviously one should swing on it. Dave

Q: 7. Is this stand sturdy enough to safely accommodate the Westcott Apollo 50 with the Einstein Strobe? I will be using it primarily for newborn photography and I like that it's low enough to get the Apollo to the floor but it still rolls.

A: This is a very sturdy stand which can support a large amount of weight, However with a large softbox you're definitely creating a high center of gravity, I recommend at least 1 pumpkin weight (linked below) usual used on booms, however they clamp easily to the leg of this stand and don't negatively effect mobility as a sandbag would.

Q: 8. Can I add another section to this and make it taller?

A: The Avenger Junior Roller Low Boy Stand with Combo Head (Chrome/Black, 4') BH #AVA5012 can be used with Junior pin column extensions.

Q: 9. How does this Avenger stand compare to the Mathews Hollywood Baby Jr. Roller stand in sturdiness/quality?

A: While I can't address the specifics regarding a comparison to the Mathews product, I can say that this roller stand is very stable and strong. I've been very happy with it and I've used it with a large softbox at full extension (with sandbag counter balance). It was stable and easy to move. I've been very happy with my purchase.

Q: 10. What's the size of this stand when folded ?

A: The Matthews Low Boy Double Riser Combo Stand (Silver, 6.4') folded is approxemelty 36 inches.
