Available for download, Slate Digital VMR 2.0 is a plug-in that represents a virtual mix rack full of modules useful for mixing audio for music and post production. The VMR 2.0 offers an environment somewhat similar to an analog mixing rack, where various pieces of hardware gear such as equalizers and compressors can be chained together to shape your sound.

The VMR 2.0 comes stocked with various compressors, equalizers, and utility modules, such as the FG-401, the FG-S, FG-N, FG-116, and Trimmer. Many modules, such as the FG-A, FG-Stress, FG-AIR and more, can be purchased separately and loaded within the GUI. Others, such as The Monster and Revival, are freely available.

This is the second iteration of the Slate Digital VMR, and it provides several optimizations over the original plug-in. For instance, you can customize and recall eight Dream Strip presets with the click of a button. Undo and Redo functions have been implemented, and many of the stock modules have been recoded to offer less noise in use (the noise was originally intended to model analog units more faithfully, but Slate has curtailed this analog noise as many users prefer a cleaner operation with the ability to introduce noise if needed). A clear rack button is now on hand, and oversampling can be introduced through the settings menu.

VMR 2.0 is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms. It can operate in AU, VST, and AAX formats. iLok 2 or 3 is required to run the VMR 2.0.

Q: 1. I see that this is a really strong monopod being rated for 66lb - does this seem like it would work for a handheld boom in a pinch?

A: Yes, the 3 Legged Thing Trent Magnesium Alloy Monopod with DOCZ Foot Stabilizer, could be used as a "handheld boom" The weight and size of the device connected to the end of the monopod, is definitely a factor. The weight capacity of 66 is based on the tripod standing, when the monopod is used as a boom, the weight capacity can be different.

Q: 9. Will this work with Blackmagic 6K Pro recording 6K braw 3:1?

A: I contacted the manufacturer concerning your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, they stated the following: "When it comes to the Blackmagic Cinima Camera 6K pro, the card can handle almost everything the camera has to offer; however, when it comes to RAW 3:1 50 FPS, that is not possible since the write speed should be 538MB/S and the card cannot handle this transfer speed number. Also, for the Blackmagic RAW Q0 - 242–483 MB/s for 30 FPS but not more that 30. Otherwise, everything should fine for the card to handle."

Q: 10. Description says for Red Komodo 6K & ST Cameras.. will this work for any camera, not just RED Komodo? And what is ST Camera?

A: That is referring to the KOMOD ST digital cinema camera. Yes, this can work with other cameras that accept CFast 2.0 cards.
