When hot swapping, you would be replacing the battery that is not connected directly to the battery plate nor the D-tap cable. That way, it would not interrupt the power going to the battery plate or D-tap cable. There does need to be a bit of power in that battery in order for hot swapping to be possible, however. Fortunately, it's a quick procedure to remove one battery from the other and then add a freshly charged one in its stead.
