Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work for canon EOS 1DX?

A: Yes

Q: 2. Hi! I just purchased the Nikon D610 bundle from you all and am looking to add a lens for astrophotography/landscape. I have my eyes set on Rokinon 14mm. I just saw that they are releasing a series ll...Do you suggest I grab the older model (and save a bit) or is it worth paying more for the updated?

A: Both lenses would be good options for astrophotography usage needs. That being said, the new Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Series II Lens for Nikon F does have some impressive improvements, such as better optical performance, a focus lock mechanism that allows you to lock the position of the focus ring (beneficial for crucial focus with astrophotography), the ability to declick the aperture ring, and weather-sealing. Overall, the newer Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Series II Lens for Nikon F would be recommended, but if you are on a budget, the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon with AE Chip is still a good option and would be recommended.

Q: 3. what size filter?

A: Unfortunately, the Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon does not have a front filter thread due to the convex design of the front element.

Q: 4. Does the used lens come with lens caps?

A: Yes it does!

Q: 5. Does the Pentax version have camera body control of the apeture?Answer: Yes it does.

A: Everyone has posted a yes to this question. I agree. :-)

Q: 6. will this work with my EO5, SL1? if so what mount should I order?

A: This lens will work on your camera, however you will not get the full 14mm view with a cropped sensor, as you get with a full frame camera.

Q: 7. Can I control the aperture on this lens when using it with a Nikon F-mount adapter on a non-Nikon body? Is the aperture ring engaged by a pin?

A: You don't say what kind of adapter and body you're using, so it's hard to answer your question properly. I believe most of the Nikon to XYZ adapters have their own aperture ring selector but they are manually controlled (so you can use G lenses). I would suggest leaving your adapter wide open and use the aperture ring on the lens itself, as the detents are more accurate. If you use this lens on an actual Nikon body, the aperture can be controlled by the in-body lever, or by manually turning the aperture ring.

Q: 8. Is it purely manual lens? I have Nikon D 800 camera

A: Sort of - I have a D7100 and it works fine. You must focus manually but you get feed back from the camera to forward or back focus in the view finder until the focus light is steady. Hope this helps

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Pentax K3? What is the difference between the IF ED UMC and the ED AS IF? (Newbie here, thank you!) Also in general, Im looking for a Lens for astrophotography for my Pentax K3, if anyone has other focal length recommendations I would love to hear them!

A: Yes, its compatible. The UMC is for multiple lens coatings for less light scattering as it enters the lens to produce a better quality image.

Q: 10. I am new to cameras and want to know if this will work with canon M6 mark II

A: It will not work out the box, you would need an EF Lens to EF-M Body adapter to use EF lenses on your M6 Mark II.

Just leave at f2.8 focus in live view on the Sony A7s and night becomes day. Astro Milky Way at 30 sec and ISO 3200.

This lens is a great product for the price. Images are very sharp, and when stopped down the sharpness on the corners is still very good. Since this is a manual lens, you might need to practice a bit, but this is a great product. I use it for landscapes and astrophotography.

It's full manual which takes a while to get used to. Didn't see any distortions in the images. Very clean and sharp images. It has a solid build and durable. Best ultra wide lens for the price.

If you need eyeglasses, make sure you use them. Otherwise your images will be out of focus. This is a manual focus lens.

Start to use it for real estate photography. Lens is extremely sharp. If you experienced with manual focus its pleasure to use. Give very attractive point of view with easily fix distortion.Highly recommend to friends

Saw that this lens was a good budget lens for milkyway photos, and boy do the images pop, very very little chromatic aboration. Manual focus is easy, lens is pretty solid and has some good weight to it. Enjoy using.

I'm a novice and needed a wide angle lens for traveling to see the northern lights. I understand that many use this for night sky photography which was helpful to know, and the review by Relocated was helpful to me in choosing this lens (and I can now substantiate their review as true for me also). I have a Pentax K50 and I found that I used this lens for many interior shots as well as at the arctic circle over my holidays. Highly recommend.

Don't worry too much about this being an all manual lense. The depth of field shooting at 14mm on a full fame even f 2.8 is really wide, and almost everything is in focus. Just set the focus ring to just back from infinity and go for it. I highly recommend this lense! It's awesome!

This is truly an amazing lens. I purchased this lens about 5 months ago and its been on my camera 90% of the time ever since. I was looking for a nice wide angle lens for my Nikon d800e and was wondering if this would be a good option with the budget I was working with. Honestly this lens has made me want to only purchase Rokinon products going forward but occasionally I do like to have autofocus. I would recommend this lens to anyone who wants a wide angle and doesnt mind working with manual focus.

This is probably the best and cheapest wide angle I've ever had. And also the widest I have! At first I was kinda unsure about using a pure manual lens. It turns out going manual with landscape is far easier than I thought. I often use the Canon 17-40L and also shoot manual but I have the psychological assurance that I can shoot auto with it. I've taken a lot of great landscape photos with this Rokinon lens. It's worst side effect though is the distortion but it's fixable in LR or Camera Raw. It's hard to find filters that would match this lens though.
