Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. On this boom, can you turn the camera left and right while in action?

A: You wouldn't turn left or right so much as swing left or right. Camera is always facing forward and the boom arm can rotate on the tripod base if the camera needs to see what is to the left or right of it.

Q: 2. How much counterweight would I need to make this feel floating without the camera? Can't seem to find an answer. Thanks

A: It would really depend on the payload that you chose to work with. And this is different for every user. It uses plate weights or Dumbell weights that you would find in Sporting Stores.

Q: 3. HOW DO I ORDER FOR THE BOWL VERSION?

A: Here is the bowl adapter available.

Q: 4. What is the approximate maximum / minimum angle for the crane arm? In other words, how close to vertical will it go when fully raised or lowered? (I realize this is somewhat dependent on the tripod/mount, but I'm wondering about the crane itself.)

A: I'm not sure on the angle. If set up in a typical fashion, the jib will not hit the legs of a tripod nor will attached standard weights on the rear balance section. On a five foot tall base the unit boasts that it will go from the ground to eleven feet tall. I find that to be pretty close to true. ProAm has a website with slightly more information about the unit that could come in handy. I hope this helps.

Q: 5. Is it possible to point the camera directly down as shown in the 6th photo with only the included parts?

A: No, the added mounting head shown in the 6th image is not included. You will need a separate head to point the camera directly down.

Q: 6. does this come with a case?

A: No, it does not. Not coming with a case is for the people who will keep the crane in the studio and never go on location. For those of you more adventurous types, here is the recommended carrying case. ProAm USA Extra-Large Camera Crane Carrying Bag for HD750 B&H # PRCRNBAG750.

Q: 7. Can I use this system with a Canon C100/battery/canon L series lens?

A: Yes you can, I have this setup and the result is amazing.

Q: 8. I have the ProAm 12' (maybe 10'?) larger version with it's stand. Will the tripod work with this? Is there a pan accessory?

A: the tripod from the 12" version will work with the ProAm USA Orion DVC210 8' DSLR Camera Crane / Jib

Q: 9. When looking at photo #3 (i.e. the camera mounting plate) I see it is attached to the left side of the arm. I have one particular situation where I need it to be on the right side of the arm... I'm shooting a parade from a sidewalk on the south side of the street, with camera facing west. For this event, I need my camera facing in the opposite direction. So, my first question is, is it possible to flip the camera bracket over 180 degree, and at the same time, rotate it so that it faces to the right, instead of the left. Hope I made that clear enough. If that won't work, I have a Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan Tilt Head that I could mount on the camera plate in it's default configuration, BUT, would the height of the Bescor MP-101 allow a camera (Canon XA-10 or Canon G30) mounted on top of it to clear the arm, hardware, etc., so the camera could face to the right?

A: According to ProAm: The camera bracket could be switched to the opposite side, but it would involve moving the handle to the opposite side as well, which would take some time and tools. I think the best solution would be, using the DVC210 with the boxy camera mount, attach your Bescor Pan Tilt Head and the camera on top of that. With the Extension Plate of the DVC210 added to the camera mounting bracket, he or she could even mount the Pan Tilt and camera in an upside down position. Q: 10. Would this work with a Bogen 3011 tripod and 3126 Head ? Its close to the weight with a 1lb camera

A: Should be no problem.

Nice little bag that will carry two 'takts or one larger Elektron such as a Rytm MKII. Also has enough room for power and midi cables. Nice.
