Reap the benefits of a monopod with the stability of a tripod using the Benro A48FD Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base. Able to hold up to 44.1 lb and extend to 64.6", the A48FD Series 4 is a versatile camera support thanks to its base which provides three solid points of contact with the ground. The base acts like a mini tripod, and its ball joint allows you to smoothly pan and tilt your camera. If using a pan head on the monopod, the base's ball joint can be locked so that you can pan with the head independently, or you can replace the base with the included rubber foot. The four leg sections are secured by flip locks, and it folds down to 22" for transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. do the legs come off?

A: Yes you can remove the legs by unscrewing them from just above the red pivoting latch. Then you can attach the rubber foot that comes with the unit.

Q: 2. Will this work and be stable for astronomy binoculars 25-100 (10 lbs)?

A: Benro A48FD Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base will be stable for astronomy binoculars.

Q: 3. Is this monopod compatible with the manfrotto 701 fluid head?

A: The monopod will fit the 701 fluid head fine.

Q: 4. What size thread is on the rubber foot, could you put on a spike?

A: It is a 3/8"-16 thread and would be compatible with any 3/8"-16 spike or accessory foot.

Q: 5. Screw is much too large for my camera. What is the solution for that?

A: Flip the screw around, the screw has 2 size big & small, hope that help

Q: 6. Can this monopod stand without holding it?

A: No, the Benro A48FD Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base is not designed to support the camera without assistance. It will stand on its own with nothing on it.

Q: 7. What is the difference between the FD and the TD model?

A: The FD model has flip locking and the TD has a twist lock. They both serve the same function but it comes down to how you lock the sections in place and your preference to the motion you apply. Some may find that it takes a bit more physical exertion to apply the flip locks. I prefer flip over twist; I feel it's quicker to set the monopod up.

Q: 8. How much does it weigh without the legs?

A: It weighs 1.5lbs without the legs.

Q: 9. Will this monopod work and be stable for astronomy binoculars 25-100 (10 lbs)?

A: Yes this monopod can hold a pair of binoculars that have a 1/4" screw mount.

Q: 10. Is this Benro sturdy enough for an A7lll to do a 30 sec long exposure?

A: The three-legged base on the bottom of the Benro A48FD Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base, B&H # BEA48FD, is not designed to support the camera without assistance as is a tripod. It is designed for assistance in allowing you smooth panning and tilting motion while holding and manually moving the monopod. Due to its low support point, I would not leave the camera unattended mounted on the monopod, and as the base is low to the ground with the camera being high on the monopod, the image can still be affected by wind or platform movement. If you are shooting mildly long exposures, such as from 1/30 sec down to maybe 2-4 seconds (depending on how steady you are and if your camera/lens combination has image stabilization), the monopod may work for your usage needs, but for long exposures such as the 30 second exposure you list above, I would recommend a standard tripod for your usage needs.

This is wonderful option for film makers on a budget. It handles a lot of weight and feels really solid. The option to lock monopod at the bottom is great. I still wouldn't it trust it with a heavier setup, but for a dslr light as an a7s and a small lens its doable to leave by itself.

I was going to get a Manfrotto monopod, but I purchased Benro A48FD series 4 Alyminum Monopod instead, and I am glad I did. Its very sturdy, it supports a lot of weight, and does job what monopod suppose to do. The price is good too. I used Canon 5d mk3 and 7d mk2 on it, and I have no complains.

I purchased this monopod after a recommendation from one of the techs. He was very honest, provided many details when I requested specifics regarding size to fit in a carryon for an international flight. This monopod is everything I wanted, sturdy, and compact. I look forward to many years with this piece of equipment.

We use this mono-pod for our real estate photography. It has served us well for two years and has bat an eyelid. It's strong and professionally built and can handle anything you throw at it. Perfect for fast paced shooting as it packs down and pack up super quick. It's even possible to shoot slower shutter speeds which is great. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an affordable all in one mono-pod. No bad comments on this one!

If you want the convince of a tripod but not the bulk, this monopod is the way to go. I went to Poughkeepsie over the weekend and there were hikers everywhere. I setup my monopod and no one tripped over it or bumped into it for it was out of the way. Can be a little shaky on unsteady ground so make sure you secure it before standing it alone...I would definitely purchase another one if I need to
