Kodak VISION3 50D is a low-speed daylight-balanced color negative movie film characterized by its ability to record a wide dynamic range with increased highlight sensitivity. It has an exposure index of 50 when shot in daylight conditions and its fine grain structure contributes to notably high image sharpness. As part of the VISION3 series of movie films, this stock has high archival stability and is well-suited to digital post-production processes.

This item is one 100' roll of 16mm color negative movie film for process in ECN-2 chemistry. It is perforated on one edge (Winding B) and wound on an R-90 spool for use in-camera, for making optical prints, or for bidirectional printing.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When does this film generally expire? Also where on the actual can/box does it say the expiration date because I've looked on both 100' daylight spools and 400' mags and can't find any expiration date.

A: There is no expiration date. If kept under the proper conditions it should not expire either.

Q: 2. Will this fit in the K-3?

A: Yes, this 16mm film is compatible with the Krasnogorsk-3 film camera.

Q: 3. how long this last?

A: Super 8mm 50ft cartridges yield about 3600 frames, which provides a run time of 3min 20 sec at 18frames per second, or 2min 30sec at 24frames per second. The processed film when transferred to a video/digital format will yield about 3min for films shot at 18fps and 2min 30sec for those exposed at 24fps and transferred with a 5-bladed shutter system. The 18fps films can also be transferred for a run time of 3min 20sec but not all labs can offer this. Although, the digital files can be speed adjusted in post processing using computer software; either yours or the labs. Higher frame rates while filming which will run the film out quicker, will still yield the same playback time, since high speed filming is to create slow-motion effects upon playback.

Q: 4. Will this film work in a Eumig C16 movie camera and where can I get extra spools?

A: No, the Eumig C16 can only handle 100' rolls.

Q: 5. Will this load into a K3 camera and does it come on a day spool

A: It appears the K3 takes 100 loads only. This is 400 and needs to be loaded in complete darkness. It is not on a daylight spool.

Q: 6. Is the Type-T core that this film comes on suitable for use in an Arriflex SR3 or Aaton Xtera super 16 camera?

A: i think it will fit in the mags for the arri but i think the AAton takes special 200' spools doesn't it? i think kodak was making some special for the aaton

Q: 7. I have a Cannon 814, will this film work just fine?

A: As long as your camera works, then yes.

Q: 8. is this a cartridge like spool that can be inserted into my Bell & Howell 16mm magazine camera

A: For your camera you would need one with a double perforated edge, this is only perforated on one side.

Q: 9. Can i use this film in a Bell & Howell 8mm zoomatic camera?

A: The Kodak VISION3 50D Color Negative Super 8 Film #7203 will work with the magazine load version of that camera, yes. This camera also comes in a version that takes roll film, which if the case, this will not work.

Q: 10. When does this film generally expire? Also where on the actual can/box does it say the expiration date because I've looked on both 100' daylight spools and 400' mags and can't find any expiration date.

A: We sell film that will be good for at least 6 months or we note on the sales page that it's close dated and give the expiry date. You'd need to contact Kodak for the expiration date location as it may be either on the box or on the tape that is used to seal the canister: https://bit.ly/2RIKQ3F
