Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can these dolls really provide smooth dolly and trucking shots when used with a good tripod? Are the dolly shots as good as ones you would make with a real doorway dolly or are they slightly funky looking?

A: These dollies are meant for easy off-camera movement of the camera. They are not meant for smooth on-camera dolly moves. If you attempt to you use these for on camera dolly movies you will see: 1. Unless the floor has glass smooth surface, the shot will vibrate. 2. It is near impossible to move in a straight line.

Q: 2. Will this accomodate model 525 with dual spiked feet?

A: I use it with a 546 model with dual spiked feet. I can't find a good shot of the 525's feet, but it looks like the same type from that size of Manfrotto tripods.

Q: 3. Having a couple of questions:First, could I use this dolly 114MV with the Manfrotto 536 Carbon Fiber tripod? (https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/556158-REG/Manfrotto_536_536_4_Section_Carbon_Fiber.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/556158-REG/Manfrotto_536_536_4_Section_Carbon_Fiber.html/a)Second, is there any advantage on 114MV than 114? Spiked feets? Finally, I also own a 545GB tripod; so, I'm looking for the best option for both.Thank you in advance.

A: The 114MV is for tripods that have spiked feet, it will not work with the 536. There is no option that will work with both I'm afraid to say, dollies are either for spiked fee or non-spiked feet. The 114MV will work with the 545GB while the 114 will work with the 536.

Q: 4. Is the miliboo MYT803 Fluid Head with 75mm Bowl Base which comes with the MTT609A tripod compatible with this tripod?

A: Yes it can. the MYT803 features a 75mm Bowl Base that can be removed revealing a threaded hole that is compatible with this tripod.

Q: 5. What is the difference between Manfrotto 114 and Manfrotto 114MV?

A: Manfrotto 114MV Cine/Video Dolly is designed for use with tripods with spiked feet, while the 114 is designed to work with tripods that have standard legs. They both have the same load capacity, it is just a matter of the way a tripod is connected to the dolly and the tripods that they are compatible with.

Q: 6. Can this head be swapped out with my Manfrotto MVH502AH Head?

A: Yes you can swap out the miliboo head for a Manfrotto 502AH

Q: 7. Would this work great with my new Panasonic GH5?

A: The Viltrox VX-18M would work quite well with cameras in the size range of the GH5 or larger. The Viltrox VX-18M can work with up to 13lb camera payloads and has a smooth fluid video head for pans.

Q: 8. Can you remove the head from the 60mm half ball?

A: Yes by removing the tie down you can remove the head from the tripod. The 60mm ball of the is not removable to make the Viltrox VT-01 head a flat head. It will only connect with 60mm ball mounts.

I absolutely love this tripod! It's smooth fluid head and convenient two arms to steer it make it great for shooting Indie films! Though it is a bit on the heavy side, and I wouldn't want to use it for events where I would carry it around a lot, it still stands alone for its price and quality. For the price tag, you simply can't get even close to this kind of quality. Excellent piece of equipment!

I must say that I have never tried a tripod that is higher end so this is the opinion of a tripod newbie, but I am kind of blown away by how nice this is considering the price. I even showed it to a videographer friend who has been in the game a number of years and she was impressed. Mine works great, and it perfect for me for now. I am giving it 5 stars based on the value of quality in relation to price. I know there are nicer tripods for more money but this is a great deal.

I shoot with a Panasonic AG-HPX170 which is 4.5 lbs, and heavier with mic and blimp attached. I am often on location. I love the versatility of this tripod, which allows me to shoot eye-to-eye with tall actors, and yet near the ground for low-angle shots. Suddenly, it's easy to shoot flowers, or through them, or to get that dramatic angle on a fight scene. This tripod is reasonably light. Not a heavy duty studio unit.I absolutely LOVE the leveling function and wish all tripods had them. It saves sooo much time on location. This one is a bit hard to grip and requires some finger strength, instead of being easily grasped in your palm. (Just saying, for those with small hands, but it shouldn't be a barrier.)This is a GREAT value for the money, and in it's class.

I'm a videographer and I love this tripod. I'm impressed by the sturdy construction and the smooth motion. I've used it twice so far and it performed wonderful both times. Recently I videotaped a party with this tripod and dolly that came with it and it worked out great. I was able to move around the floor with ease and capture everyting without the tripod leaving the ground. I would indeed recommend this tripod to others.

This stand is built like a tank. Paint it olive drab and one would think it's a piece of military gear. The photo doesn't show the scale that well, but for those like me who were wondering the diameter of the legs' tubing, the largest section is about 1-1/4 inch diameter. Heavy stuff, which is what I wanted. Now, for the complaints about the tripod plate nut and vertical lock nut. Tripod plate nut is not as bad as some indicate. I have no problems clearing the camera body and I'm using a Sony shoulder mount HD camera on this rig. Vertical lock nut: Some complaints about the right pan arm getting in the way of this adjustment. That really isn't a problem. Out of the box I saw the issue and the right pan arm was in the way of tightening the vertical knob but it was a really quick fix. Here's the fix: 1.) Remove right pan arm 2.) Remove sticker covering vertical lock knob bolt (this is on left if pan arms are on your side of tripod) 3.) Use a black marker to place a small mark in the 12 O'clock position on the bolt head. 4.) Loosen vertical lock knob until the bolt head can just clear the socket it sits in (no need to remove the bolt completely). 5.) Advance the bolt head 1 notch in the socket and retighten vertical lock knob. When tightened, you only need a quarter of a turn to lock/unlock the vertical movement. 6.) Confirm the vertical knob clears the pan arm area when traveling in its quarter turn tighten/loosen zone. If it doesn't, repeat steps 4 & 5 until it does. 7.) Place right pan arm back on tripod. 8.) Done. I'm very happy with this tripod and have a similarly priced Magnus that is nowhere near as sturdy and durable as this one. Yes, this stand is a little heavier than the Magnus, but I'm not worried about the tubing getting bent or warped if someone or something bumps into it while the legs are fully extended (as I am with the Magnus). I don't see any reason to spend any more money on a stand for increased durability and stability.

Outstanding value for money. Quality build and smooth operation. Comparable to the 'big names'.

I bought this to replace an older Manfrotto studio tripod. The selling points were it's weight, and that the price included a carrying case and a dolly. I've used it several times and find it to be sturdy and easy to set up quickly. I have no complaints.
