Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How will this differ from the D600?

A: The D610 has an improved auto white balance system, which should produce more accurate colors (including skin tones) in artificial lighting conditions. It also has a redesigned shutter mechanism that will allow for a slightly faster burst rate (6 fps vs. 5.5 fps), and a quiet continuous mode.

Q: 2. Are manual bracket or HDR shots an included functionality? I see there's a built-in HDR feature, but I specifically want the capability to set my exposures and number of shots for full bracket customization.

A: Yes, the camera can be manually bracketed and also has AEB (Auto-Exposure Bracketing) feature and allows up to -5 EV to +5 EV (in .3, .5 or 1 EV steps)

Q: 3. What is the included warranty?

A: This product has a one year, limited manufacturer's warranty.

Q: 4. If in timelapse mode, will the D610 let you keep the original images or will it only give you a compiled movie? If yes, will you have the choice of being able to do so in either jpeg or RAW? Thanks in advance.

A: Matt;I have yet to use the time-lapse mode.

Q: 5. how is this camera different from the D600?

A: The D610 has a redesigned shutter mechanism that will allow for a slightly faster burst rate (6 fps vs. 5.5 fps), and a quiet continuous mode. It also has an improved auto white balance system, which should produce more accurate colors (including skin tones) in artificial lighting conditions. These will be the basic differences between the D610 and D600.

Q: 6. Has Nikon fixed the problem of spots on the mirror, like the D600 had, with this new model?

A: There have not been any issues with the sensor for quite some time now. We are aware that many users online were complaining about sensor issues at one time, but we feel the issue was inflated to a larger topic than the problem actually was. We have not received any abnormal amounts of returns on the camera for this or any cause. If you do happen to receive a model with any type of defect, you are covered both by Nikon's warranty as well as B&H's 30 day return policy. The D610 was only announced less than 12 hours ago, presumably there are no issues with it however it is not possible to know until after its release. - Yossi

Q: 9. Whats included in the box?

A: Battery, manual both English and Spanish, charger and all necessary wires. CD for computer. Also warrant form

Q: 10. I have the 610. When I try to use the bulb feature the shutter will only remain open for 30 seconds max then close..I would like to take up to 5 minute exposures. Am I doing something wrong?

A: I would recommend getting a remote for exposures longer than 30 seconds, or else you will need to physically hold the shutter down manually. You also need to make sure that you're shooting in manual M mode.
