The PMW 300 records in FAT mode and UDF mode, but if you're using an adapter (regardless of how fast an SD card you put in it), the camera will only record in FAT mode.In FAT mode, the camera will only record up to 35mbps, so to get modern broadcast quality you have to be recording on the SxS cards that are supposed to go in the camera. This is in the user manual but was not made clear anywhere on the product pages. Most people won't notice a difference between the 35mbps and the 50, but if you're shooting a lot of action or movement, the extra 15mbps helps a lot.
