The black I2 Instrument Microphone, Standard Gain, with cH-Style 4-Pin Connector for Audio Technica ATW-T5201 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been engineered from the ground up for natural on- and off-axis frequency response, low-noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls. This tiny instrument microphone can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitars, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The I2 instrument microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version offers a standard gain and is suitable for close miking and loud instruments like horns. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, a basic clip, and a carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-T5201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques can be aided by the various selection of instrument mounts (sold separately), which position securely and gently to strings, brass, and more.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning, and consistent patterns.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very high rejection for sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible separate recording into 4 different tracks?

A: Yes you can separate them in your DAW

Q: 2. What are the lowest and highest HZ it can pick up?

A: Zoom does not provide the frequency response range for their recorders but the mic should handle the frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 3. will it work with JVC HM650?

A: It will probably work with your camera. We use Canon GL1 and Son. It workswithboth.

Q: 4. Can you buy a second Receive and trigger two cameras at once? And will it work with the Nikon D750?

A: I suggest using radio triggers such as PocketWizard.

Q: 5. What case options do you recommend for this?

A: As luck would have it, I had a Tamrac lens pouch that was a bit too large for any of my camera lenses. However, it was precisely the right size (diameter and height) to house my H3-VR with attached foam windscreen. The mic is held securely and the padded pouch protects against any potential bumps. You might want to consider a lens pouch as your H3-VR case. Works perfectly for me.

Q: 6. Can the recording be separate into 4 independent tracks?

A: Yes, this can be done easily in post-production.

Q: 7. What’s the workflow like to convert to Dolby Atmos?

A: It’s a 1st order ambisonic recording. It’s common to decode the recording into 5.1 or 7.1 easily with many software options. I use Harpex. You can get creative and expand it to more than 7 channels. I like to get 11.1 out of content if it is appropriate, but you’ll need to be creative and experimental with the tools. Once you have the channels you want then just put into your normal mix workflow. There’s no such thing as “converting to atoms” You either have atmos software and a session to mix it for, or... you don’t. Hope that helps.

Q: 8. Does it work with a time function on the d5200?

A: The Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon DC-2 Connection is a basic remote shutter. If you set the exposure from the camera the remote will set off the camera like as if you touched the shutter button. Now if you want the remote to have additional features like time laps this one can do that Vello Wireless ShutterBoss II Remote Switch with Digital Timer for Nikon DC2 Cameras B&H # VERCWIIN2 MFR # RCW-II-N2.Or if you have an Iphone or Ipad this can do the job Vello Bluetooth ShutterBoss Advanced Intervalometer for Nikon Cameras B&H # VERCBTN MFR # RCB-TN.

Q: 9. how far?

A: Never really tested the distance. I normally use it within 10 feet.

Q: 10. Is this ideal for recording a symphony orchestra?

A: Yes, the Zoom H3-VR Handy Audio Recorder with Built-In Ambisonics Mic Array would be a good option to use for recording a symphony orchestra.
