Q: 1. What's the weight limit before a lens support bracket is needed?
A: The Tiltaing Canon RF-Mount to PL-Mount Adapter with Adjustable Back Focus (B&H# TIARFPL2) does not have a stated weight limit before a lens support bracket should be used. Intended motion of the camera (none, slow, or bumpy movement), lens balance, and of course weight are all important. Moreover, the lens mounts and, yes, the adapters themselves also should be taken into consideration, the latter seeming to be the very appropriate point of your question. Assuming little or no camera movement, and also especially when using a lens adapter, experienced cinematographers will typically use lens supports whenever the lens is more than 5 lbs (2.27 kg). However, it is never a bad idea to use one, especially when the lens mount is not of the locking variety. One common misunderstanding is the idea that such a support is only used to keep from damaging the lens mount on the camera. In actuality, any downward flex of the lens mount at all (even one micron) will affect the plane of focus of the lens circle on the image sensor. That's what makes lens supports so important even if no damage will result from not using one.
Q: 2. Can additional shoe mounts be added?
A: Yes you could rig it to fit, however I found that it is wiser to purchase the three or four mount bracket. The brackets are designed to hold a particular amount of weight. they also have a designed spacing to insurance balance and stability. You alter this if you change the configuration with out adding extra mounting space and material. I tried to do that, it worked, but it was not as sturdy. I decided not to risk one or two $300 plus flash units, or video lights. The cost for a greater capacity bracket is not that much. (cheaper than replacing your flash units if they fall)
Q: 3. Can this adapter be used in the RED V-Raptor ?
A: Yes, the Tiltaing Canon RF-Mount to PL/LPL-Mount Adapter with Adjustable Back Focus can be used with the RED V-Raptor even though it is not RED Approved.
Q: 4. Will this work with Zhiyun Crane 2s?
A: Yes, this would still be able to mount to the side of the Crane 2s
Q: 5. Will this work with a 7" monitor?
A: Yes, the Smallrig Adjustable Monitor Mount will work with a 7" monitor.
Q: 6. It's not clear to me if this comes with two brackets so I can mount two speed lights on it or not. Can anybody help me with that?
A: It comes with 1 bracket to hold only 1 speed light and a remote. If you wish to have 2 speed lights you need to order an extra bracket. Works great with my Photoflex Lite Dome soft box.
Q: 7. Will this mount to a standard tripod?
A: Yes it will.
Q: 8. What are exact exterior dimensions? Need to calculate whether or not this case will get hit with airlines Oversize Checked Bag Fee for exceeding 62 inches (L+W+H).
A: According to the manufacturer the shipping dimensions of the case are 45 x 11 x 12 = 68 . So yes, prepare to pay.
Q: 9. Is it compatible with a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/984435-REG/sony_hvl_f43m_external_flash_video_light.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/984435-REG/sony_hvl_f43m_external_flash_video_light.html?/a
A: I think the knob on the side is adjustable but may not fit snug onto the flash. However, I think that Sony sometimes may or may not conform to all standard hot shoe mount brackets. So it would be wiser to call Sony and ask if their External Flash HVL-F43M is a standard hot shoe mounting or perhaps B&H Photo and let them test it in the store just to be certain.
Q: 10. Can i attach my wireless receiver to the flash then both to the one flash shoe mount? or is that too much for the mount to hold?
A: Yes, without any concerns. This bracket is very sturdy. I commonly mount my largest flashes (Sony f60m) on top of Odin receivers then both on this bracket. I think any arm you'd use to hold the bracket would give out before the bracket itself.
